This is very good caulk I would say. I put it on some outside windows but didn't need to paint it so I can't comment on that. It stays in place and its' not too messy to work with. The tip design is not necessary as the old style has worked well for many years. With this one you need to unscrew the cap and slice off the plastic nub, but only just above the threads as you need to screw the cap back on. Then slice the tip to the size you need as usual. It works well enough I guess, it just seems they were trying to do something different when everyone is used to the old style where the seal is punched out through the tip. I would buy this again though.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by VV257 False description, this doesn't set in 30 min
This doesn't set in 30 min. I have applied this at several places in my home exterior and interior and tested after 2 hours and it is still sticky. As product description says can not be paintable in 30 min

The threaded tip pops off during use - was using small bead with a little tip pressure for filling a crack. Looks like it's in the design - insufficent threads, flexible coupling material. The "extra" packing is also just a flat out waste of plastic - not sustainable practice.

I am speaking of the one that says "UNSCREW NOZZLE AND CUT" on the tip. It may seem conflicting to have Good for quality and value yet one star so I'll explain. Many of us have used chalk before, no big deal, after you cut the top you either have to puncture the inner seal or not. However this product takes it to a new level. I cut the tube tried to puncture what I thought was a seal and realized it's not a thin seal but it is sealed with plastic. Being that I thought I was using a normal tube of caulk I wasn't prepared for this ordeal. Some genius thought it would be a great design to plastic over the cap so now in order to get anything out you have to go to the toolbox.
What is God's name were they thinking. I hope I've saved some people a lot of headach, stay clear of the one with the "UNSCREW NOZZLE AND CUT" on it. The absolute worst design ever, I can't think of a single reason why they would do this.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by precaud Pricey but uniquely good
Last summer I was building a solar air heater and needed to caulk all the seams of the box. I needed something that would make a strong permanent bond, remain flexible and wouldn't shrink when subjected to large daily temperature swings (0F to +140F), and could be painted over the same day as applied. I tend to prefer PU caulks and they would work except having to wait 7 days to paint. So I looked for an alternative.
I called DAP customer service, explained my needs, and they told me the 3.0 would easily do the job. So I got a tube and they were right. This is an excellent caulk/sealant for the most demanding applications. They advertise it as a siliconized caulk but it also has PU in it.
Anyway, it is expensive stuff, and it may be overkill for some tasks, but this is an excellent caulk that really does what it says. It's the closest thing to a "perfect caulk" I've found yet.
