Rated 1 out of 5Â by Upset Died after about 2 Years
We purchase our freezer from Magic Chef about 2 years ago. It completely stopped working. Tried to get it going again on my own but had no luck. Very frustrating because we lost everything that was in the freezer. We didn't notice it until there was a puddle of water on our basement floor.
Just from reading the other reviews, if you want a $350 freezer that is works for about a year, this is your freezer. If you want it around for longer than that, I would go with a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 Great Entry Level Upright Freezer
I've been looking for a small upright freezer for YEARS to fit in a tight spot in my dining room. I used to have a chest freezer in that spot that was 5 cu. ft. and wasn't big enough as our family grew.
I found this one on sale for about 15% off the normal price and decided to buy it, despite some bad reviews, which I now think are more User Error than Product Error.
The door seal is very strong, and as long as you take the time to ensure that it is closed, I don't see any way it can pop open. Closing a door isn't hard to do.
Delivery was 5 days early! The driver contacted me via phone and text to let me know he was on his way. He even brought it into the house, though I only paid for Basic delivery.
I've attached some photos of my freezer with food in it so you can get an actual idea of what it will hold. You will see how big the freezer is in relation to other household objects. The door photo only shows three of the door shelves; there is one more at the bottom. The interior photo shows you all the shelves except the tiny one on top - i was able to fit 4 packs of regular bacon up there.
The shelves (except the tiny top one) are 17"d x 18"w x 9"h. I plan on getting some plastic bins to sort my steak/chicken/pork, etc.

Bought the freezer in July 2011. It worked fine for almost two years but then quit. Called a certified Magic Chef repair person who charged $85.00 to tell me that the freezer wasn't worth fixing because the labor would cost more than a new freezer. Said the freezer wasn't really a Magic Chef but that a Chinese company had paid for the rights to put Magic Chef on the label. Said the refrigerant leak wouldn't be covered anyway. I liked the size and the upright design, but if it can't be trusted, who needs it? Of course one the worse things is that a fair amount of garden produce was ruined.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by farmgirl Just what we needed
This freezer is compact but offers lots of storage space. The interior is designed so that all our frozen items are easy to locate thus saving time in searching for what we need.
It definitely helps eliminating clutter in our regular kitchen refrigerator/freezer. We bought it specifically to help store food prepared for holiday gatherings. They are held at more stable temperatures since the freezer is opened only when the trays of food are needed and not several times a day like the kitchen appliance.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by astride Please Read all reviews, I didn't and regret it now
I am happy to announce that I was able to get 3 years out of this freezer, but now she is dead. It was never the best freezer, the door didn't always seal so many times we came out the garage with dripping meat juice on the floor. This time we saw the same and assumed it was the same issue so we just closed it and left it another couple days to find that it had not been working for a while now. I tried a few things to fix it, the relay and capacitor, but it was a rabbit hole not worth entering. RIP freezer and thank you for teaching me to read reviews for future purchases!
