I purchased this toilet and installed it today. I am currently happy. I Give it a 3 star simply because the toilet doesn't use the standard fluid master flush valve which costs about $12 to replace. In the event the flush valve on this toilet wears out in 3 -5 years (like they do) one can either pay the $200 part replacement price for a new flush valve specific to this toilet or replace the toilet.
I love Kohler products and have nothing negative to say about the toilet. I just wish they would either inform the customer of the expense down the road or stick with a standard valve that is inexpensive to replace.

The flush valve mechanism is flawed. I've been through a couple replacements of the innards already to no avail. There's a steady internal leak. The parts are hard to find, and I've now found reviews saying that plumbers avoid installing this thing -- it's complicated and doesn't let you get to the back of the unit for repairs. I would not buy another kohler. the Gerber 1.6 gallon is actually more efficient because it doesn't leak and has a reliable flush.

We installed two of these in our house six months back. We still love the look and we received compliments from guest who stayed with us. They were a little tricky to install. If the back wall is not straight, you will see a gap between the wall and the toilet itself. The super water saving flush doesn't always get rid of all the liquid waste so a second flush is often required. Kind of defeat the whole purpose. Given the shape of the bowl (somewhat vertical with just a little bit of standing water on the bottom), you will want to have a brush nearby.

I bought this toilet mostly because of the efficiency, but also because of it's style and height. First I found out that it wasn't the easiest to install. Picking up 120 lbs and placing it over the receiver was more than I thought I could do. Luckily I had room to assemble the tank AFTER I had set the stool. Otherwise, I don't see how one guy could do it. The template provided was great. The dual flush was the seller for me, because our utility company priced sewer change and trash by water volume. The 1.8 and 1 gal flushes seemed ok although others were 1.8 and .8 gal. Now that I'm using the toilet the 1 gal. flush isn't even quite enough sometime, but what you save otherwise makes up for the "extra" flush when necessary. There is one annoying nuance to the toilet. Since the back of the toilet is open, when you go #1 the dripping echos through the rear. I've never sat on a stool that did this, but I've never sat on one that was "open" at the rear. I'm working on some type of cover to muffle the sound, but may just get use to it.
