(Cons) The temperature controls are easy to read, but you don't have a reference point to the number. We ended up purchasing a dial thermometer to place in the refrigerator to determine the proper setting. We have to set the temp. to level 5 (of 7) in order to maintain about 40-45 degrees (F). I think that is kind of high. If you want to be able to reverse the upper door, this model is not the one to purchase.
(Pros) The upper door holds a gallon of milk or other large containers for easy access. The freezer is very efficient to use (compared to a side by side) and quite large (you can store larger items easily), and the unit is easy to clean if you have a spill. For the money, it is a fairly good value

Rated 5 out of 5Â by sioushi Very quiet and efficient; great visibility; not quite enough door caddy space for cooks
We selected a 33" wide top-refrigerator model because we have a small kitchen and we were tired of having to get on our knees to see the bottom shelves of the old fridge. We chose the Maytag Eco-conserve model based on independent consumer magazine reviews and the brand reputation. The stainless steel cleans easily with soap and water, and the door makes a good tight seal to prevet air leaks. There were two minor cons. First, there was not enough door storage to hold our eight million chef condiments, so I ordered an extra door basket from Maytag customer service. That was an over-priced $50, but worth it for the storage, which is now perfect. The second con is that we ended up with less usable freezer space than with a top-freezer model, but then I'm no longer attacked by avalanches of bagged peas, and it's easier to see and use the frozen goods. Much of the space in our old top-freezer was taken up by unused and unusable goods. One day we'll add a chest freezer to the garage. I wish there was a water filter for the ice, but I can add an external filter to the water line. Note that the door swing is NOT reversible, and you have to order a left-hand model or a right-hand model, MBL or MBR. Overall we're very pleased with the purchase and find the interior spacious, well laid out, and easy to clean. The energy efficiency and quiet operation is a huge plus. No issues with inconsistent chilling, and very quiet.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Bummer1 This refrigerator is the worst buy we have ever made and cost wise not worth repairing.
Purchased this product at Home Depot for 1,284.44 and it was delivered 5/29/12.As soon as this appliance was one year old water began leaking down the back of the inside of the unit making a huge frozen solid lake under the flimsy freezer baskets which are also VERY poor quality and not at all rigid .Removing the baskets to clear the accumulated solid sheet of ice and then trying to put them back in was a nightmare. At this time I called Maytag to try to determine what the problem was & they were so sorry it was out of warranty!!They asked me if I had purchased an extended warranty and I told them I had not that I had expected the unit to last longer than one year! The unit leaked all the coolant out and then the freezer quit completely. The service man that checked out the problem said the unit had a coolant leak from the factory. Do the math 14 months of use for $1,284.44. The upper temperature of the unit is failing now as well. Every single month SINCE I reported the problems to Maytag they now send me a registration form to sign up for a warranty service contract? Go figure.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by oberhasli12 Basic Refrigerator, needs design improvements
Door and handle are nice stainless. However, the placement of the temp controls and light interferes with placing tall items on top shelves. Have had the Refrigerator for about 3 weeks; initially, it was running quietly however in the past few days it is becoming increasingly noisy. Also it took several days for the freezer to finally get down below 32 degrees. On another note, the first delivery of this refrigerator ended in the delivery men taking the refrigerator back as the freezer handle was loose and there's no way to tighten it. Took an additional 3 weeks from original delivery to get replacement. Maytag should do a better job in quality control before wasting customer's valuable time.
