Rated 1 out of 5Â by UnhappyDoor Door degraded in one year
This storm door was showing a small bump on the bottom slab when I bought the house a year ago. Now one fall and winter later the bottom has rotted/burst through at both bottom edges and grey stuff is sprinkling out. The door does not close anymore as it is so swollen up at the sides. Evidently the design/structure allows water and moisture inside the door panel which results in prompt degradation. Emco says warranty does not cover because the door was already installed when I bought the house. Clearly will be looking at a replacement product from a different manufacturer.

Good - lasted under the warranty before rusting, Andersen provided a full replacement after I submitted pictures of the rust on the lower left corner. They give you one year after approval to pick up replacement at Home Depot. Stupid is they want you to bring the door with you... Great if you have an door behind it, bad if it's to a breezeway and no door behind it. If I were buying new, I would look for a different brand.

This door is not a good option as a replacement door. If you are not building the opening to fit, there is very little wiggle room. Trim pieces are narrow, and don't allow for much adjustment. It took a lot of shimming to make it fit in a 36" pre-hung door.

Got this door about 2 years ago and it's rotting out badly. Looked good when first installed, but doesn't last, and I even have a awning over it. Waist of money!!!

We bought two of these doors a year and a few months ago. The back door never seemed to latch properly (installed by professional contractor, not me) and the other day i couldnt get out the door! Turning the handle did nothing, so we had to pry the door open and noticed that there is a pin on a spring that transfers the turning of the handle to the latch. This pin broke. Anderson/Emco said the door is in warranty still, but the hardware is not. Huh? So I can buy a hardware kit for $60 or a new door. I think i will be going Pella. Oh, and the second door seems like it is about to break now too. Great!
