We have used this product on the tile in our homes front entrance. It has held up very well. Then we tried it out on the newest adventure. A hearth for our woodstove. Turned out great. Easy to use and makes clean up easier on the hearth.

Used this product to seal grout on kitchen floor tiles. Followed direction to avoid sealer turning white if puddles of product are left to dry. I installed one coat then a second, what didn't soak in I soaked up with a rag. I used a smoke colored grout, its almost white color now, lighter than before I used the sealer. I think it will repel lquids but don't care for it turning my grout white.

I purchased this product to seal the grout in my shower and on my tile floor in my newly renovated bathroom. It was recommended by the staff at Home Depot after showing the salesperson exactly which tiles and grout we used in the project since all were purchased at Home Depot. We were given simple instructions by the HD salesperson, which matched the directions printed on the bottle. I used the sealer in two small test areas; one on the grout surrounding my ceramic tiles and one one the grout surrounding my mosaic tile insert. There was no problem with the test areas or other larger portions of the shower as I proceeded with the project. However, as I continuned to seal the grout surrounding my mosaic tiles, I did begin to have a problem. About 1/2 way through the job, certain tiles within the mosaic discolored to a yellow/green tint. I immediately stopped using the product and tried to rinse and wipe it off the mosaic tiles, but the damage was done. I have since been corresponding with Custom Building Products (who makes the SurfaceGard) for the past 2 months. They have indicated that the sealer is safe for honed marble (which is what my mosaic tiles are made of acoording to HD's website). They tried to infer there was a problem with the grout or the thinset, until I informed them that both of those products were also manufactured by Custom Building Products. (I used Polyblend grout in Alabaster and Porcelain Tile Fortified Thin-set Mortar in white.) They tried to tell me the discoloration was grout staining and said I should have sealed the mosaic tiles with their product before I even hung them in my shower, and then proved this point to me by sending me a quote from the National Tile Contractors Association manual. I was taken aback by this considering it's a DIY project and I folllowed their label's instructions. They also told me I should have gone to their website and read the full technical datasheet for the product before using it. I have since had the Grout Doctor out to my home to see if they could assist me in removing the discoloration and they indicated the damage is not grout staining because grout staining would not turn green and would not etch the surface of the tiles as has happened. I informed Custom Building Products of Grout Doctor's diagnosis, but they have made no comment on it. Overall, Custom Building Products has repeatedly offered varied explanations for the discoloration of my mosaic tiles, all squarely placing the blame on me. They requested a sample of my SurfaceGard Sealer, stating they would test it and if it is found to be defective they will stand behind their product. I sent it to them via Fed Ex 2 day shipping on 8/27/14. As of yesterday (10/6/14), they indicated that their lab is backed up and they will get me the results as soon as they are available. Please use caution if you decide to use this product as it may not work well on all surfaces the label indicates it should work on, and the company does not to seem to be very willing to help if there is a problem.

The spray applicator was easy to use for small home improvement jobs. The sealer did its job. A second application was not needed on the tile grout. In fact, the second application beaded up and would not penetrate the first application. Prompt removal of excess is necessary as it will show on tile in he right light conditions.
