I am a locksmith, many customers ask for Schlage locks, deadbolts and sets. When I saw the price and features for the Schlage 203079031 (satin finish ).I ordered it right away. This was so easy to install, that a novice could do it,if they were replacing an existing lock set.The only thing I wished I did was to buy the limit of 10.of them.Have to read the instruction on how to set the alarm, some confusion. Other than that, i give it 5 Stars.

Just installed this lock on our new front door and it looks great. It seems pretty sturdy and I like the built in alarm feature.

I bought three of these handles. The inside female screw receiving area on the outside handle broke when I was installing one of my three handles. I can't say the quality is excellent. After you install these, let the whole thing sit for 10 minutes before you try to change the alarm setting to number 2 or 3. If you don't, setting 2 or 3 won't work until you wait the 10 minutes. I thought mine were broke, but Schlage support told me to let it sit for awhile. They were correct.
Schlage says setting number 2 is really meant for young children who you don't want to open the door and leave the house. The alarm only goes off for 15 seconds. Setting number 3 is meant for night time when the concern is an intruder. On setting 3, the alarm goes off for several minutes at 90db. I leave mine on #3 all the time as these are on outside doors I frequently use. Having the ability to change sensitivity is very nice.
Overall, I was impressed by Schlage support and these handles. There is not much else on the market that does the same thing. It provides an extra level of security which may not be much, but the more the better.

Bought this on a great sale. Sensitivity and Alarm reasons are easily programable. Alarm is very loud and obnoxious; as it should be. Not sure how you could ever sleep through it if you were in the same house (If you sleep through this, I'm not sure any alarm would wake you.). We use it to alert us as to when the young children are attempting to get out on to the second story deck, and it works great in "tamper mode". FYI, "tamper mode" is basically is a combo mode that alarms if the knob is turned, wiggled, or if the door is even kicked. It's pretty much a best of all worlds alarm setting. Therefore, you dont have to "choose" which type of alarm setting to use, as stated in some reviews. I've also seen other reviewers of this brand of knob state that the alarm is poorly engineered, and quite frankly, I'm not sure if they were expecting wifi connectivity and laser guns, or what--- It's a doorknob alarm, buddy- Don't expect an ADT full home security system! It's one of the best doorknob alarms I've come across. As far as the doorknob itself, it's a beautiful, very heavy, tight, solid doorknob with very little play in the handle. It would function well (with or without the alarm) for years, I'm sure, as a primary front door knob. I am using two of them on a set of french doors and they beautifully accent the rest of the door. The finish is of high quality and a second knob is included in order to "complete the look" so that the doorknob is reversible without turning the handle upside down, as other companies occasionally do. As a result, the french doors have mirror image handles, rather than reversed ones. Functionality is very smooth, even in 20 below zero F, with zero frost forming around the indoor edges, sugggesting near zero air intrusion. Installation is a breeze as long as you own a screwdriver- it could be done with a pocket knife, I suppose, if you tried long enough... (Lets face it, its a doorknob, how hard can it be?) All in all, its a bit expensive, but it alerts us when the kids are headed out on to the deck, deters intrusion, and looks and functions beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by homediva Finally! Security without fees!
I was so excited to see Schlage release a lock with an alarm -- I just had to get one for my apartment. Living alone can be scary at times and having this lock with the built-in alarm makes me feel so much safer because it lets me know what's happening at the door. It really is pretty amazing that by having this lock I'm able to sleep more soundly and just feel comfortable on my own. And if you ask me...that's priceless!
Overall: No fees, no complicated wiring and best of all it's Schlage quality.
Thanks so much for this great product!
