I bought this a/c from Home depot in last week of May-2012 installed it correctly the condensing water flows out perfectly, the unit is not too noisy at F1 fan level but my main problem is that the ice start to build up after 20-30 minutes of running the airconditioner. 40% of the cooling coil is now full of ice, the temperature sensor attached to it would signal the compressor to shut down, now its just the fan that's running and it would continue to do so until you turn the air conditioner off and let the ice melt. You then run it for 20-30 minutes again it starts to build up ice. You can't keep doing that over and over again. I believe home depot returns on a/c is for 30 days so I now have to look around for help from LG. The cheaper Frigidaire A/C I had was running perfectly from over 6 years, i don't know what made me go for LG.

Unit appears well made and installation was easy. I appreciate the change in material composition of the accordian side panels. It is much better (flexible) than the old style material which was stiff plastic. All window units are noisy but with this unit on low we can still comfortably watch TV. Low is apparently 52 dbls. We used it for 6 days so far and it cools our living/dining/kitchen area very well. Remote control is handy.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by Coppervines Problematic unit...LG will not make it right. Avoid.
Long story short...Had this unit for a year. Was leaking inside my house (was properly installed). Had 3 sets of LG technicians to my home, all said the unit was functioning properly...but I would have to tilt the unit back further than it already was (these units can only sit in a window correctly one way)...and the only way to do this would be to install it INcorrectly, which would require screwing in wood into the window frame, bringing the bottom front of the unit further in and seal the gaping holes with duct tape. LG continues to deny that there is a problem with the unit. I have 4 other units, none of them leak in any window, they are installed incorrectly, and the windows in my home are perfectly level. I spoke with a "Senior Claims Liability Manager" at LG, he was rude, insincere, and hung up on me. They offered me $100 (unit is much more than that) to pacify me after months and months of phone calls and emails to various people at their organization. 2 out of 3 of our LG major appliances have failed within a year. Spend the extra $ and buy a better brand.

My living room is 400 sq.feet. When I installed this unit the outside temperature was 97 with the living room at 93. Within the first hour of operation my living room was a cool comfortable 74. I then put it on the energy saver mood and it maintained that temperature until I turned it off 9 hours later.
This unit uses a third less electricity then the 12,000 BTU unit I replaced. It was easy to install and works beautifully.
When I got up this morning the living room was at 87 degrees, I turned the unit on setting it at 75, within 45 minutes that temperature was reached. I then put it in engery saver mode and it has maintained the 75 degrees for the last 10 hours while running only about a 20 minutes an hour.
This is a fantastic air conditioner I highly recommend it. For a window unit this is rather quite even on high fan, on low its barely audible. Great value for the money.
