Rated 3 out of 5Â by RocketScientist Basically a GOOD system but its ACHILLES HEAL is its connectors
The 2 Watt light fixtures put out an incredible amount of light, are designed so as to prevent Trespass Lighting (light shining into your neighbor's home), and install relatively quickly .... but THE "VAMPIRE" PRONG" CONNECTORS ARE VERY POORLY DESIGNED FOR THE WIRE GAUGE THICKNESS THAT COMES WITH THE KIT !!! I just got off the phone with Malibu's Product Support and they are clueless. But if you read the reviews, you will see that many of the problems with this unit are associated with those Vampire Prong connectors.
Each light attaches to the main cable using this connector. The problem is that the connector is designed for a THICKER gauge wire. So when you pinch the 2 ends of the connector together they don't typically make a good connection. The result? Your lights either don't light OR they flicker and stop lighting altogether. And you get upset and return the unit to Home Depot.
I'm an Aerospace Engineer (you know, a Rocket Scientist). I conceived and tried several fixes. Here's the simplest, cheapest (essentially free) and easiest one:
CAREFULLY use a small knife to cut a SMALL slit in the 75' long power distribution cable that comes with the lights, making sure NOT to cut the cable in half or otherwise damage its insulation. Then insert a small piece of insulator (I used a B-B sized piece of the insulator from my old Malibu system I was replacing) in that slit. It will stay in place as you continue the assembly if you made only a small slit. Then connect the Vampire Prongs as shown in the directions. Design problem fixed!
I've had the product for less than a week so I can't respond to any of the other long term complaints (lights not lasting a long time, etc). But I am very impressed with the low wattage used by the LEDs and the incredible amount of light they put out. I expect to save a lot of money on electricity with this system.
But one complaint in closing: The system is designed for external mounting in a location that the supplied photo-sensor will not be affected by other lights (like the lights you are installing ... duh!). If you are not careful in where you place the transformer your lights could go on and off, on and off all night long. I prefer my transformers be installed inside my garage. But then the photo-sensor is useless. My solution? I bought an inexpensive LCD timer and leave the Malibu transformer always in the ON position. This solution works great, turning on the lights at exactly the times I want and not using more electricity than is needed. I wish the Malibu system had such an LCD Clock option as I think it makes the whole installation much more beautiful as well as broaodening its installability.
Malibu: WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE AND FIX THE ACHILLES HEAL OF THIS SYSTEM: ITS VAMPIRE PRONG CONNECTORS !!!
PS The Malibu / Brinkman Company should be paying me a small fortune for my design work!

Rated 1 out of 5Â by MathRocks High Lamp Failure Rate
Bought two 6 light kits and one single light for a total of 13 lights. They were easy to install and look great at night. After 30 days 6 of the 13 lights have failed. Home Depot has replaced them with no question asked but it is a hassle returning them one at a time for the last month. The connectors attached to the lights do not work with the thin cable that came with the kit. Luckily I had to buy a roll of cable to install the lights where I wanted them and it was a heaver gauge that worked with the connectors. I live in south Texas and the transformer sits in the sun all day. The seam at the top of the plastic transformer case opened up exposing the insides of the transformer. Overall this is a nice looking product that has a unacceptably high defect rate and component mismatch issues. Only one star because great appearance and value is not important if product is defective.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by CarreraC LOUSY JUNK!!!! 3 Lights burned out after 2 months. Malibu would not honor the 12 month warranty and replace. LOUSY PRODUCT AND NO CUSTOMER SERVICE
Made many attempts to get Malibu to replace 3 burned out lights from the 6 light set under warranty (multiple phone calls, faxes, thru their Website and on their Facebook page over 2 months. They now won't even answer their phone (after 2 more attempts, as you will be put on hold for 20 minutes then the music stops and the call is dropped. Home Depot even tried to call and they would not and answer. I will never buy any more Malibu junk and have to work with their obvious policy of NO customer service.

Like the other reviews, bad connectors leads to problems. I should have read the reviews before buying.

Rated 1 out of 5Â by John Poor Quality; Poor Design
While this product looks nice when working, getting it to that point and keeping it there is a real challenge. When I first bought it, the power pack was not working and I had to return it. Also, the light connectors are too big for the wire. So, instead of easily connecting them, you have to splice the wires to make it work. Finally, I got the set working and it looked great. However, the power pack (which was just affixed to the wall and not moving or being hit) broke within three months. Now I am going to see if I can return the power pack, get a refund or whatever. This product is a huge disappointment. It was inexpensive, but clearly not worth buying.
