After reading mediocre reviews, I needed to add mine. I did research before buying first shear for NC cabin a year ago. I just used my new shear for FL home with 1st charge (80% according to manual) and cut 20 medium-large roses and 4 mega-size bushes. Battery was still going I just didn't have anything else to cut. I don't try to use these shears when I should use my 24V cordless garden shears to MOW DOWN major stuff. Really! This product is great for pruning my rose bushes and also dead heading other flowering plants with one hand while still being dressed for a cocktail party. I like the small short blade best but both should be used on DRY foliage. I can't wait to see how long the unit lasts when the battery builds up over charges. People, read the manual. When used appropriately, you will like this product.

I used it to touch up about 7 small bushes. The combo shear did what is was supposed to do. If the limbs are as thick as an adult index finger, the blade will get stuck on it. The battery lasted about 2 hours of continuous use. If you are looking for something small, light, cheap, quick, and actually works, I recommend this combo shear. All the other shears are heavy or require an extension cord! Overall, happy with purchase.
Oh, and I charged the battery about 24 hours before I first used it. Hope this helps in the decision making process.

I had a B&D rechargeable trimmer for more than 20 years that finally died. I used it to trim two topiary bushes since the smaller blade made it easier than my larger hedge trimmer or manual clippers. This one couldn't handle it. The battery did not last through one bush. The blade pushed over the short branches without cutting. I had to keep going back and forth. The safety release was a stretch for my thumb. It was made for people with monster size hands. With no lock-on my hand was cramped after a short time. After the batter died I finished the job with the manual clippers and will return this.
B&D is making junk now.

This trimmer works very well on light weight tasks. I like the grass edger tool better than the hedge trimmer.
