Rated 3 out of 5Â by June Dumps bleach on laundry
I've had this machine for nearly a year. It gets our clothes clean. But the issues I have outweigh any benefits. The smallest issue is that the backlit buttons are nearly impossible to read. Sometimes I have to get within three inches of the button to read the thing (I'm not very old). The big issue I have is the washer just dumps bleach. Every single blanket, sheet, towel that I own has big bleach spots. Not just a couple of tiny spots. Big, huge spots like I opened the washer and dumped a cup of bleach on the load. I rarely use more than a 1/4 cup on a load and it appears to all be dumped, undiluted, at once. So I say the value is very poor. I spent a fortune on a "good" washing machine that ruins all my linens.

I LOVE this washer. I have four children under the age of six and you can't even begin to imagine the amount of dirty laundry we amass in a week. With our old standard top-loading washer I was consumed with laundry, doing 2-3 loads per day, and I look back at the amount of water we were using per load (the machine had to fill up completely with water every time--what a waste!) and it just makes me sick to think what we could have been saving in money and resources if we'd had this washer sooner! I am constantly amazed at how little water this washer has to use and yet the clothes come out cleaner than they ever did in my other washer. It actually "senses" how much the load weighs and adjusts the amount of water accordingly! And now I only have to do 3-4 loads of laundry per week. It's a HUGE machine. It is big enough to wash in a single load every single dirty towel we accumulate in one week. Because the clothes aren't just sitting in a bowl of water the whole time, I can wash my darks and my mediums together without worrying about color transfer. I am able to do the sheets from every bed in one wash. There's a Small Load feature so when you don't have enough for a full load you don't have to feel guilty about it. It will clean down comforters, mattress toppers and pillows with ease. It steam cleans and has Sanitize and Allergen features that allow you peace of mind when washing items for your little ones with sensitive skin. I particularly love the child lock feature since my kids are mesmerized every time I do laundry and want to play with the pretty buttons so this keeps them from opening the door and/or changing the cycle (although it will not prevent them from completely turning off the machine using the start/stop button, which is kind of a bummer). It also has a magnetic button that allows the door to stay propped open a couple of inches without swinging freely and this lets you air out the machine after a wash so it doesn't smell like mildew. There are so many other features on this thing that I don't have time to mention. The only downside is that it doesn't have a Soak option (unless I just haven't figured it out yet) and I have to soak a lot of the kids clothes before washing them so I just use the utility sink in the laundry room, which isn't a big deal, but I would have loved it even more if the machine came with that option. Other than that, I think this machine has been worth every penny we spent. And it definitely cost a pretty penny, for sure...

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Aloha lint filter horrible
The machine is great because of its size, BUT, the controls are complicated and not intuitive ( if you want Hight temp on cotton setting you can not change from medium heat... you have to choose a different option that takes longer time.. I also prefer the kenmore version because it has buttons instead of vague touch areas inside the black glass. but the lint filter is the weak link that makes this machine un-recommendable. it is a plastic folder that you have to pull out, open like a book, clean out then fold and re- insert. The plastic hinges wore out in five months making big holes in the cloth filter and protruding pieces made it impossible to put into the machine. The LG warrenty does not cover that part so the purchase of another $25 filter is required possibly every 5 months. I prefer the cheap no frills GE I bought because its easy to use... set time, temp and push start and the lint filter is on the bottom of the door hole, it is open so you just brush your hand across to pull lint out.

The washer itself is wonderful. Who knew that a simple light bulb inside the washer could make doing laundry so fun!! The cat and I have a great time watching the wash!
On a more serious note, I actually watch the wash to see how it works. The amazing system of water management makes total sense why it is so water efficient. The size is wonderful and can handle even our king size comforter.
We have only had it for two weeks, but I will update after 6 months or so. 1 word of caution....Measure your opening before you buy!!

This is my second LG washer to own. This one has a very large capacity and saves me time. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the door seems like it might not endure the test of time. The door is very lightweight compared to my last front loader and I always have to shut it twice to get it to latch. As far as size, it is about 2" wider and taller than the previous model I had but deeper. The touch panel is very nice and easy to understand. The washer has a lot of energy efficient features.
