CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 15 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great replacements for old ballasts I have bought 8 of these so far to replace the old magnetic ballasts in 4 quad-bulb fixtures. First one took a bit of time as I drew out the existing wiring to be sure I could rewire the same way, but the rest went very quickly. Only difficulty is working overhead, but that isn't the fault of this product. They seem to start up the lights much more quickly than the old ballasts, but I can't say whether that is a difference between the old magnetic and these electronic ballasts, or the fact that the old ones are 15 years old. Just snip the old wires off close to the old ballast so you have slack to work with, remove the old one, mount the new one, and wire up with wire nuts color to color. Very happy with these units, and expect they will last at least as long as the old ones. December 17, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Replacement Quality is excellent. While the replacement ballasts ( my light has four Fluorescent Bulbs requiring two replacement ballasts) are thinner then the originals, the light fixture ballast slots and screw holes align and fit well as replacements. Replacement installation is hardly a walk in the park as replacing two ballasts required cutting and reconnecting 26 wires. However, the wire color coding is identical and with the proper electrical nuts, adequate concentration, and time; replacement of the ballasts was both successful and highly satisfying. Rated 1 out of 5 by FAILED AFTER 90 DAYS STARTING TO FAIL RIGHT AFTER 90 DAYS OF NORMAL USE ( 7 HOURS USE DAILY) AND IT WILL NOT START LAMP AFTER 10 MINUTES LATER AND FLICKER INTERMITTENTLY. WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER NOR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE TO WASTE YOUR MONEY AS i HAVE WASTED MY $15 IN THIS CASE. March 3, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Makes a world of difference. I moved into a new house and had to add lights to my detached garage. I purchased the cheaper t-12 set up not thinking about how they work when it gets cold outside. I live in Virginia and we always have a few weeks of relatively cold weather below 32 degrees. The first cold day I went to do some work in the garage and 2 of my lights only flickered and hummed really loud. The other wouldn't even start. I did a little research and found the magnetic ballast is only functional above 50 degrees. I did more research and was happy to find this electronic ballast for t12 would function at 32 degrees and up. Installation on the first took me a while since I'm not an electrician. Once I understood the wiring diagram I got it hooked up and operational in a little under an hour. The next two only took about 15 minutes each. I'm very happy so far. The fixtures now light almost immediately and they are silent! Even when it was about 40 last weekend they worked great. This was a great value since I didn't want to switch over to t8 and waste the t12 bulbs I still have from my original purchase. Once I use the t12's I have on hand, I'll upgrade to t8 fixtures. But this will probably get me through a few years. Money well spent. February 13, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy to Install - produces plenty of light This ballast is no where near the physical size of the one I am replacing. The instructions are on the top of the ballast and color coded wires, easy to hook up. Normally you should take the old ballast with you to the store which aids in the correction selection for the new one. The HD employee was very knowledgable about the types and kinds ballasts for the different bulbs even though I didn't bring the old one. It was the correct ballast even though it looked much smaller. If and when this ballast wears out, I will switch over to the longer lasting units with the T8 blubs. Home Depot still supports the Veteran with a 10% discount on most all purchases.
