Rated 2 out of 5Â by tommyfw Loudest Home Appliance I have ever owned
We were desperate for an over the range microwave as ours had died after 17 years. We priced out the replacement from GE and figured we could do better, price-wise, than $700. We traveled to multiple stores looking for something in house. It seems that there are not too many models actually kept on store premises these days.
We ended up taking the LG Microwave as it was in the store and at a price point we liked/could afford.
This microwave has some functional problems such as being the single loudest device in our home--including vacuum cleaners. If you turn on the fan even at low speeds it sounds like a jet engine. The other major problem is the rotary plate does not stay on properly and makes an annoying grinding noise. You have to stop the microwave and move the glass plate to get it to stop for even a few minutes.
All in all it is the worst appliance we have ever purchased. I would not recommend this device to anyone.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by Stbird Budget unit, looks good but noisy.
The unit has all the features I need and fit my monetary budget. I needed a SS unit to replace the white GE model I had, to match the rest of my new appliances. The door on this model does not close with the smoothness and quietness of my old unit. The unit functions well for cooking and heating but it is very noisy compared to my old unit. I have to turn up my TV when it is in use to hear the programs. You would think the company that did so well making quiet dishwashers would have put that kind of thought into their Microwave ovens. If this is all your budget allows I would recommend this unit. If you can afford more do so and try to hear it in use before your purchase.

Bought this microwave a year and a half ago and had it installed. The megatron blew up. Called the L.G. warranty line to have it fixed under warranty. LG said they would schedule a tech to come out and repair the unit under the ten year megatron warranty but it would cost me minimum $89 to $150 dollars. I told LG that was almost half the cost of a new unit at Home Depot. The megatron warranty service is not free.
This unit replaced a 10 year G.E. microwave. I also own other L.G. products and love them. I think L.G. did a poor job on building this microwave. I don't know if they put a lot more effort into their higher line of microwaves.
Everyone's postings about it being a really loud unit are also very true. I believe a lot of people will be finding out this particular L.G. microwave will not be lasting as long as they would like.
I will definitely be buying a different brand microwave than an L.G.

After only 15 days it made a loud sound (croaked) and died. The LG mechanic came to check it and said the fuse blew. He came to repair the micro without a spare fuse. After a week he put the new fuse in, but it blew again. He said the transformer was bad. A week later, he came with the transformer and new fuse. The fuse blew again. He said that the condenser, transformer and magnetron was bad. A week later he replaced all of them and it worked. Took 3 weeks to repair.
It has become extremely noisy (add fan noise as well) and seems it will blow up anytime. This is a bad microwave. A waste of time, money and the cheap cost will buy you a lot of inconvenience. Avoid !!!!
