This set of two 200-Light Dome Icicle LED Light Set in Multi-Color Bulbs is the ideal light for decorating roof lines, tree and other structures. LED lights do not have the filaments that produce light and heat in traditional incandescent bulbs, so they burn less electricity. LED lights use a chip to convert energy into light. LED lights are cool to the touch and are incased in colorful plastic covers that are very durable. Decorate your home with affordable and long lasting LED Lights.

  • Uses up to 80% less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs
  • Cool to touch when lit
  • Extra bulb, cover and fuse included
  • For indoor/outdoor use
  • 400 UL approved LED lights
  • Connect up to 15 sets of the same item

Rated 4 out of 5 by Directional dome LEDs, but otherwise pretty good I was looking to replace a set of multi-colored incandescent lights with LEDs, and narrowed it down to this set of generic LEDs vs. some by a well-known General company that makes Electrical products (but we won't mention any names as that appears to be against review rules). I thought the differences I found might help others know what to look for. I'll refer to these LEDs from Home Depot as "no-name" brand lights, while the others I'll call "name brand". Differences: Icicle length: These no-name LEDs are strings of 200 lights, with longer "icicles" than the name-brand lights with 100 lights per string. These run in repeating strings per icicle of 7-6-4 lights (vs. the name-brand which go 5-3-4-3). On this count I prefer these no-name-brand lights. Dome vs. inverted cone: These no-name LED lights use a round dome, which means that if you get one lined up so you look directly at the end, it is very bright. The name-brand LEDs have an inverted cone on their tip. As a result they have the same brightness from most any angle (with a very bright light the size of a pin head from any angle due to the inverted cone). On this count I prefer the name-brand LEDs. Locking base: Each LED bulb on this no-name string has a locking tab to hold it in place. On the name-brand lights, they are held in purely by friction. As with all miniature lights, if one bulb come loose, that whole electrical string (usually about 50 bulbs) goes out, so conceptually this would seem like a place these no-name lights are better than the name-brand. Side clips: On these no-name LEDs, each base has a clip on the side you can use to clip to the wire. This should be able to keep all the bulbs pointing the same direction. The name-brand LEDs don't have such a clip. Conceptually these clips seem like a good idea, but I have found them to catch on a lot of things which can make unpacking them each Christmas after storing them all summer a real pain. I'm not sure which style I prefer here. Packaging/warranty: Both of these no-name lights and the name-brand lights state that they come with a 3-year warranty. These no-name LED strings come in unmarked boxes, with the outer box clearly stating they were manufactured in China. Inside the box is a small piece of paper listing the name "Toyo International Group" with a toll-free number to call if you need warranty assistance. The name-brand light strings come in what you would expect for commercial packaging, clearly stating they are GE. Personally I have higher confidence that in the event of a warranty issue I'd be able to get a replacement out of the name-brand company, but this is a guess and not based on personal experience. Spare bulbs: These no-name strings come with 4 spare LEDs per string of 200 with one in each color. Having 4 colors seems useful in the event of a failure. The name-brand come with 2 spares per string of 100. That's the same number of spares per string, but you get only 2 colors per string, and have to hope multiple strings have different colors to cover you. Similarities: Bulb colors: Both brands come with 5 colors of LEDs: red, green, blue, and two shades of yellow (one slightly orange, with the other a more pure yellow). Power: Stated power consumption per bulb is about the same for both strings (the no-name string of 200 bulbs uses 14.4W, which is just slightly more than the 6.5W per 100 bulbs of the name-brand string). Unfortunately I can't speak to the reliability of either brand as both strings are new to me. November 17, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by All I can say is they light up my whole yard. All I can say is they light up my whole yard. I have 4 strings on the house and it costs less than a 60 watt light bulb. I love them and need two more strings. You won't be unhappy. December 4, 2012
