Purchased three of these to use on on three fans in three different rooms. The problem is that they can't be uniquely set to only one fan. All fans responded with each button push on the remotes. In the "old days", we could set up a unique dip-switch setting for each fan/remote combo. This setup doesn't offer any way to separate the fans/remotes. Also, be careful if you do buy this that you get the slim receiver. Of the three I purchased, one of the receivers was too large to fit in the space available. The other two were thinner and fit just fine.

I purchased this for a Hunter fan in our bedroom approximately 10-11 months ago. Product worked as expected for the first 8 months (although we didn't use it for most of that time since it was installed late last summer). About 3 months ago the remote started to show spotty response. I would have to hit the button multiple times and point the remote directly at the fan to get a response. Finally last month the remote completely failed as the fan did not respond at all no matter how close I got the fan. I change the battery and went through process of pairing the remote to the fan again, and still no response from fan. I've read multiple reviews of the same thing happening to others with this remote. Hunter this is a poor reflection on your company and demonstrates a lack of commitment to ensuring quality products are sold to consumers.

we really enjoy having control of our desired speed, and light switch from a distance.
I was about to install a second switch to control the on/off of the light separately from the ceiling fan, installing this device not only do I have separate control of the on/off action but also can change the speed of the fan blades, how cool is that, no more having to jump on the bed and adjust the speed, nor pull on the chain to have the blades turning and not the light off, great stuff. highly recommend it if your ceiling fan did not come with a remote from the factory.

I purchased three of these for 3 rooms that were only wired for one switch (vs separate switches for the light and fan). The installation is a pain. While they say they are designed to fit into most fans, that's a stretch. I picked a fan make/model that was listed as being compatible and I had to play tetris engineer to get it them to fit. I only got 2 up and held off on the third because it was such a pain. After about 2 weeks, one stopped responding to the controls. We tried swapping batteries and resyncing and nothing would work so I had to completely dismantle the fan to get the remote out. I returned it for a replacement (was very smooth so thanks to the Home Depot returns folks) thinking that I just got a dud. A week later the other remote went out so I again had to dismantle the fan and get a replacement. The replacements appeared to be a different style but were labeled as the same model. The difference was the old ones had a receiver unit in the fan that was off white and the new ones had a receiver unit that was black. At this point I'm quite annoyed because as anyone who's put a fan up knows, it's a bit of a pain to have to disassemble a fan once it's up. So for the next month, they would both just randomly stop working for different lengths of time. Keep in mind that when installed, the pull strings on the fan have little to know effect on the fan operation. I tried putting my daughter to bed only to find that I couldn't have the fan on because the light wouldn't go out. Needless to say, I removed both and just bought longer pull strings so my kids could reach. I'm hoping I can find the receipts and packaging so I can return both. Thankfully I never got around to installing the third remote so now I only have two rooms where I have to patch holes from mounting the remote plate to the wall.
Save yourself some headaches and don't go with this remote....

Unit is bulky and does not fit in your fan shroud as they say. I had to store it up in the ceiling on top of adjacent drywall. It worked only some of the time. Now it completely stopped working. Tried changing batteries and re-pairing the remote. Once it stops working, your fan will be COMPLETELY useless until you remove this device and hook your fan back up to wall power. What a pain. Even worse if I would have had to pay an electrician. Spend the extra 10-20 bucks and get a name brand. My unit is about 6 months old but I don't have the box or receipt so I'm calling it a loss.
