I used my old poulan pro 18" for six years, before the fuel tank developed a crack. I bought this model a month ago as a replacement. It lasted a total of six hours of use, before the primer bulb stopped working and it wouldn't crank. Swapped it out for a new one. Used it for about an hour. Went to use it a week later........ Nothing, it wouldn't run. Swapped out again yesterday. Used this morning to cut down some shrubs. A little over an hour of run time and, you guessed it, it quit. I can get it to crank, but it will not stay running. I am taking this one back for good. I tried calling poulan customer support, but you only get the option of looking up a service center or the parts website. I am through with poulan. Going to get a stihl after home depot!

I bought a second poulan last week to run two of them. Can't beat the value. I cut a 36 inch tree with the 18 in bar. I ran it with gas in the tank from last season. Runs great. I run it with xtra oil in the gas. When I bought it it didnt have the xtra chain and the snap of the case was broke. The chain tensioner was popped out hit it with a hammer to set it back in place. But you cant beat the price and performance. Made alot of money with this saw in the city. Took it back to the farm cleared alot of trees.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by Atomicantman Powerful economy saw
I painted mine in woodland camo and they should do that right from the factory as it looks awesome. Other than maybe hard to find if you walk away from it in the bush. I removed restrictive exhaust and had the carb readjusted as the screws have tamperproof heads. Saw is very powerful and cuts like its possesed by a demon. It doesnt come with a set of spikes to aid in leveraging the bar into the work, but it was dirt cheap addition from a saw shop. The main body is plastic so you cant get to carried away leveraging into the work or you will bust the cases. Thats why i only gave it a 3 for durability, but then its a budget saw with a racing engine in sheeps clothing. I love this saw and its a great value.

I bought a 260 model, the old name for this line of saws, back in 2000 to learn on. I cut 3 to 4 face cords every year. My intention was to replace it with a "Real Saw" in a couple of years after it died.
I have misused and abused this saw in every way imaginable. I have on numerous occasions run the chain into the dirt and against rocks. I do a poor job of mixing oils & gas. I leave fuel in it and the next season crank it up and run it on the fuel that has been sitting in it for months. I have had to replace the bar 3 times, once for a bad sprocket, but twice because I bent the bar trying to get it unstuck after binding in a tree. I did replace the air filter and spark plug last year, after 13 years, because it just seemed that they should be replaced after that much time, and this year I had to replace one fuel line that cracked.
I keep waiting for it to die so that I can get a "Real Saw".
Who knows, perhaps this is the "Real Saw".
If it ever does die, I'll probably get the larger 50cc model.
