Rated 1 out of 5 by If I could choose zero stars Turned my boots blue. Never buy this product unless you want your valuables ruined. The pictures portray what used to be black, grey and brown leather boots. August 28, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is a single usage product. I purchased 9 set of this product. Be aware, it will not stand UV from the sun. No life span. It is great to apply just before needing single application. If has no shelf life once applied, UV destroys it and it flakes off clothing and boots. Again Great Single Application I thought this product would change the world. If it sounds too good to be true, most likely it is. July 1, 2013
Rated 4 out of 5 by very impressive, a few draw-backs I've heard of this product a few months back, and finally it comes out to the consumer market! I got some last Saturday and quickly did some tests. Sprayed an umbrella, my electric car charger, a brick, and a little strip of concrete outside my house. The material comes with full directions, hold can 6-12" away, that sort of thing. the spray area seems to be fairly confined though, and i found a large center channel was being created. perhaps that means i was too close. Either way, the finished texture of the object that was sprayed leaved much to be desired. my umbrella fabric was much more course and almost tacky. Quite possible i applied too much or too little of one of the stages. My car charger was also tacky and course, though it's more important it stays water resistant. I noticed in the official documentation it says it's not intended for electronics. but in numerous demonstrations by the company employees, it shows iphones submerged after treatment. i suppose that's a liability thing. I won't try that on my phone just yet... I digress, the brick and the concrete have no real discernible change in feel, but they are quite awesomely waterproof! I think my second real application (besides my car charger) is to spray the tops of each of my concrete steps to cut down icing during the winter. I imagine I'd have to re-apply annually, since it's a walking surface, but i'll be pleasantly surprised if i don't. I did try rubbing the coating off of the concrete with my feet, and i had some moderate success, though it was well inside the recommended 12 hour total curing time. Other things I'd like to spray house siding that's close to the ground that could get dirty with rain splash-back... If it leaves no real trace, I'd put it on the bottom part of my car door, so my pantlegs don't get wet when i'm getting out and touch the bottom of the car. Pros- works very well! concrete treatment is amazing to watch. Huge promise for outdoor equipment, grills, weed wackers etc. -shoes! should work great for shoes, hats? any rough already clothing object you don't wash frequently, as the coating will dissolve in the wash. Cons - for the 10-15 or so square feet of application the $20 can comes with, it feels like not a lot. - gritty to the touch, unsettling. this means treating gloves will be a challenge. - it's mentioned multiple times, it dries to a milky white haze. kinda nasty looking. but again, put it on siding that's already white and you won't notice. Rated 3 out of 5 by Leaves strange silver film Very simple and easy to use, if you have ever used spray paint it goes on exactly the same. Instructions are easy to follow. I thought this product would be good to use on my husbands work boots. He always gets them wet and they start to deteriorate, and I thought this treatment would help keep them in good shape longer. The spray went on very easy, and dried quickly between coats. It seemed to come out pretty evenly. After waiting the recommended amount of time (30min) I tested them with water and they completely shed the water with zero retention in the leather. However the second coat left a very strange and distinct silver coating on the boots. While it isn't that big a deal for work boots, I would be very disappointed with this film on a nice surface such as a fancy black mailbox. I noticed in the sidewalk where I sprayed the boots, that the water from the sprinkler was completely repelled for a few days. But we walk there constantly and it wore off. Overal an interesting product and concept that definitely has its uses on some materials, but would be a better product if they could eliminate the strange tint left by the second coat. July 6, 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Very disappointed Even before it became a Rustoleum product, I watched the NeverWet internet videos with all the anticipation of Ralphy on Christmas morning waiting for his Red Ryder BB gun! It is with regret that I must express my great disappointment with the product now that I have used it. As they say "A picture is worth a 1000 words." so if you'll look at the picture of the Bionic leather glove I treated with NeverWet next to an untreated glove you'll see why I'm so disappointed. EVERYTHING you treat with NeverWet winds up with this terrible frosted coating on it. I've gone back and looked at the videos again and you can see the frosting on the products in the videos, but you are so enthralled by the water, mud, and chocolate syrup repelling off them that you don't really focus in on the frostedness. Yes, they do mention in the directions that the frosting will be there, but you don't really realize how distracting it is until you treat a few items. Also, you'll notice that the NeverWet doesn't adhere to the fingertip material on the glove (I'm not really sure what it is), but it does adhere well to the leather. Yes, it does repel water mud, etc. as is claimed, that I don't dispute. I just will be hard pressed to find objects to treat with NeverWet that I don't mind ruining their appearance. July 25, 2013
