Shades Basics

Shades are a time-honored window treatment. They are practical, simple and versatile enough to suit any décor, from casual to elegant. And they come in a wide range of styles, colors and materials, from fabrics to natural materials such as bamboo and jute.

Shades come in many forms: cellular, natural, pleated, Roman, roller and shadings. Choose from sheer or semi-sheer shades that allow sunlight to filter through, or more opaque shades that offer greater privacy and room darkening. Shades draw up neatly to maximize window views. Some styles insulate against heat, cold and sound.
