The feeder comes with its own base which allows you to place the feeder just about anywhere in your yard, including patios, decks, any level and flat surface. The base holds 30 pounds of sand (not included) providing stability even through wind gusts. The feeder slides up and down the center pole with the simple pull of a pin allowing you to fill and clean the feeder without needing ladders or stepstools. No more reaching or bending! A built-in squirrel guard keeps critters at bay. Two feed trays attract a wide variety of birds. The large feed tray attracts ground feeding birds such as doves and blue jays, and keeps much of the seed those messy birds scatter from reaching the ground. The smaller feed tray attracts tube feeding birds such as chickadees and finches. Both trays have ample drainage holes to help keep the seed dry which keeps it safe for the birds. The generous feed tube holds over 2 1/2 pounds of seed. Large port holes accommodate sunflower seeds and even smaller pieces of dried fruit and nuts. The feed tube fits snugly into the recess under the roof keeping the seed dry. All parts are UV stabilized and are covered by a 5 year limited warranty.
