Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting plastic plant pots, CFLs, lead acid batteries, and rechargeable batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
We have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores since 2010.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities and the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

When is The Home Depot Toilet Sale?
Yes, toilets are on sale during The Home Depot Bath Sale that runs from 1/2/25–2/19/25. You may want to swap out your old toilet and get a stronger one that uses less water. Be sure to proceed with care if you're mounting a new toilet yourself, or contact our pros for toilet installation and let them take care of it for you. While you're at it, consider replacing your bathroom mirrors and medicine cabinets as well to take advantage of these great deals.
Is it good to have a generator at home?
We've got the variety you need when searching for a generator for sale. Inverter generators are quieter and cleaner than traditional portable generators. They'll adjust to the required load, making more noise when they create more power. When searching generators for sale, don't forget that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors.
Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?
Ready your home for colder weather by replacing any broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in the crevices, you could headed for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofs or shingles for rust or damage that could let water leak in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks, and verify indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be replaced if they're damaged.
Why should I get a doorbell camera?
Enjoy peace of mind, safety, and privacy with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or an adjacent window when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Many cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference as needed and worry less with more control.
