Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting CFLs, lead acid batteries, rechargeable batteries, and plastic plant pots for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives such as solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our associates and customers. This commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. Is it good to have a generator at home?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for any circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with hurricanes, tornados, or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity after the elements knock it out. When searching generators for sale, remember that portable generators are more affordable and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from windows and doors, for safety purposes.
Should I make siding repairs before it gets cold?
Ready your home for cold weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for major repairs down the line. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roofing panels for damage or rust that could let water leak in. Clean gutters to prevent ice dams. Check bricks and cinder blocks for cracks. Indoors, verify ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. Lastly, vinyl siding and chimney caps should be swapped out if they're damaged.
Do you have doorbell cameras?
Enjoy safety, privacy, and peace of mind with a wireless or wired doorbell camera. No more peeking through the peephole or a nearby window when you can see visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you chat remotely via your phone, which is useful to scare off would-be porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Several cameras integrate with your smart home app or hub to give you easy and flexible accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
