Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Home Depot stores sent approximately 5.3 million pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This has helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.
Since 2010, we have decreased electricity consumption by over 52% in our U.S. stores.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Read more about our commitment to economic responsibility.

Do vanities ever go on sale?
During our vanity sale, which is part of The Home Depot Bath Sale running from January 2nd through February 19th, you can choose a vanity without a top or a vanity with a sink and countertop. Remember to upgrade your shower heads and faucets to match, too. You can even have our pros do the countertop installation or vanity installation for you if you'd prefer. Don't miss the sale that can help you improve your bathroom for years to come.
Do I need a generator?
Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances Mother Nature throws at you. Whether dealing with tornados, hurricanes, severe thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy electricity when the elements take it out. When considering different generators for sale, keep in mind that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're heavier and louder. Always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows, for safety purposes.
How can I prepare my home for the winter?
Make sure your home is ready for cold weather by repairing or replacing faulty parts of your hardscaping and home. If water freezes in the crevices, you could be looking at trouble. Check cinder blocks and brickwork for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine shingles or metal roof panels for damage or rust that could let water leak into your home. Gutters should be clear to prevent ice dams. Lastly, change vinyl siding and chimney caps if in poor condition.
What are the benefits of doorbell cameras?
Enjoy privacy, peace of mind, and safety with a wired or wireless doorbell camera. No more peeking through a window or peephole when you can watch animal or human visitors in real time. Some doorbell cams even let you talk to whoever is on your doorstep via your phone, which is useful to scare off wannabe porch pirates or talk to delivery people. Most cameras integrate with your smart home hub or app to give you easy accessibility. Save video clips for future reference and worry less with more control.
