Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.

This helped the planet by preserving over 63,500 trees, keeping over 16,000 trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saving over 50 million gallons of water, and conserving 7.8 million kilowatt hours of electricity.

Do I need a generator?

Having a generator means you're prepared year-round for whatever circumstances life throws at you. Whether you're dealing with tornados, hurricanes, thunderstorms, blizzards or strong winds, a portable generator lets you enjoy power when the elements take it out. When browsing generators for sale, remember that portable generators cost less and generate more electricity than inverter generators, but they're louder and heavier. For safety purposes, always run your generators outside, away from doors and windows.

Why should I repair my roof before the cold sets in?

Ready your home for cold weather by repairing or replacing broken parts of your home and hardscaping. If water freezes in any crevices, you could be in for major repairs down the line. Check brickwork and cinder blocks for cracks, and ensure indoor ceiling tiles are free from missing pieces and water damage. On the outside of your home, examine metal roofing panels or roof shingles for rust or damage that could let water in. Gutters should be clear and functional to prevent ice dams. Lastly, chimney caps and vinyl siding should be swapped if they're damaged.

Are sheds or garage cabinets better for storage?

As you prepare for the holidays, give yourself extra space in the house and stow away the rest. Shield fragile items with moving blankets. Garage cabinets keep tools, decorations, and more out of the way. Remove summer belongings from the equation with shoe racks and other storage containers. If you need even more room, a new shed can give you the right amount of space.

    Very helpful staff
We are giving our 32 year old house a face lift and all of the staff have been extremely helpful. The young lady that helped us with the windows, and the young lady who had helped us with the Siding, and the young man who helped us with the kitchen all were very knowledgeable and definitely shine in their departments.

        Helpful staff are the best
I went to the Forest Lake Home Depot to pick up an online order from a locker and, while in the store, picked up three other items (circular saw, rake and wood screws) that I needed. I headed for the self checkout line as usual but handling all the items from small to large (wood screws to rake) while scanning the bar codes was challenging. I had just started when a Home Depot employee came up to just help me hold everything during the checkout process. He was pleasant and fun to talk with during the 30 seconds or so the checkout took. It’s typical of this store that an employee will offer help with a cheery attitude.

One of the best employees I have ever worked with.
I have to give a shout out to Mr. Truman Clute, a Hardware Dept employee at the Forest Lake Home Depot store. I drove close to 50 miles to pick up 2 Ryobi Link 2-drawer toolboxes that the Forest Lake HD website stated they had and also another employee stated they had. When I arrived, I found Mr. Clute to help me find the toolboxes. He looked on his store phone and it showed they had 3 of them, but the problem was where were they located. He looked high and low all over the entire store trying to find them. Finally, after over 30 minutes later he apologized to me that he could not find them. He did offer to reduce the price of a 3-drawer toolbox for my trouble of driving the distance I did and the time I was in the store. I have had this same situation in other HD stores, plus other home improvement stores, but never had an employee like Mr. Clute, who went out of his way to provide me with a positive situation, not only looking as long as he did, but also sending me home with a positive attitude about HD.
