Our store diverts waste from landfills by accepting rechargeable batteries, plastic plant pots, CFLs, and lead acid batteries for recycling.
Our stores sent approximately 5.3M pounds of shredded paper for recycling in 2022. This helped the planet by preserving over 63.5K trees. It kept over 16K trash bags of solid waste out of landfills, saved over 50M gallons of water, and conserved 7.8M kilowatt hours of electricity.
LED lights in your local store cut down energy consumption by 98 million kilowatt hours. Many stores also participate in renewable energy initiatives like solar and wind.
The Home Depot's core values are based on doing the right thing for our customers and associates, and this commitment extends beyond our stores to our communities, as well as the environment. We are your partners in environmental sustainability. Learn more about our eco actions.

No matter how complex your project may be, we're here to help you finish it. From Hampton Bay patio sets to electrical supplies our associates will get you in and out. Which real Christmas trees are best for people with allergies?
If you're definitely buying a live tree, the eastern white pine tends to be easier on folks with allergies. However, it depends on the individual, the severity of their allergies, and what trees they're allergic to. When pine allergies are the culprit, try a spruce tree, white fir, or cypress. Wash your tree with a hose and dry it off with a wet/dry vac before bringing it inside if possible, and find out more on choosing the best real Christmas tree for you. As some people may be allergic to all real Christmas trees, you may want to get a fake Christmas tree instead.
