What is the difference between ceramic and porcelain tiles?
Both porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but the difference lies in the temperature and type of clay used. Porcelain tiles are made from refined clay and are kiln-fired at a high temperature, making them highly durable and non-porous. Ceramic tiles are made of less fine clay at a lower temperature, and the outcome is less dense and more porous. Ceramic tiles make up for the lack of durability with a broader range of colors and patterns and ease of installation. Their less dense softer exterior makes it easy to cut them. We carry Case 12x24 Ceramic Tile in various colors and finishes including Matte, Glossy and Polished. Check out our most reviewed product, the Vigo Beige 12 in. x 24 in.
