An artificial plant, with its no-fuss maintenance and beauty, is an ideal way to bring a natural accent into your home. Choose artificial flowers in vases,
potted plants, door wreaths or stately
artificial trees for easy-care decor in any room.
Potted Plants
Decorative plants are available in nearly as many varieties as the real thing at the garden center. Artificial plants like
ferns,
palms and
ficus trees provide a dramatic accent without the need for pruning or watering. Place them in the corner of a room to warm the space.
To add color, select
hanging artificial plants and flowers, such as geraniums or nasturtiums. Or choose potted arrangements with a featured flower poking through the greenery, like calla lilies or sunflowers.
Lifelike
artificial succulents provide
accent decorations for a room or patio with a tropical feel. Choose a single agave plant in a bamboo planter. Or place an arrangement of various succulents in a ceramic pot.
Artificial topiary trees make a big statement. Look for boxwood balls or cylinders, cedar spirals, and hibiscus or azalea topiary trees. Highlight smaller topiaries on countertops or coffee tables. You can also feature larger varieties in stately urns in your foyer. To place a topiary tree outside, look for UV-resistant types that won’t fade in the sun.
Artificial Flowers and Wreaths
Create the illusion of fresh flowers with a vase filled with colorful silk
roses,
tulips,
peonies or
orchids. For a polished look, choose
artificial flowers that come with decorative stones in a clear
glass vase.
Hang a decorative
wreath on the front door or on a wall—and not just during the holidays. Invest in
floral wreaths featuring colorful hydrangeas, daisies or roses and swap them out with the seasons.
How to Care for Artificial Plants
Keep artificial plants looking new with frequent dusting. Use cold water to clean plastic plants. To give the leaves a glossy look, spray them with furniture polish and then wipe dry.
Place silk plants out of direct sunlight so that the colors don’t fade. When dust builds up, mix equal parts distilled white vinegar and water, then spray the leaves lightly and wipe dry.
