DIY Address Sign Planter

Cut List and Diagram
Cut Diagram
  • One 14 ½- x 18-inch piece (back board) 
  • One 14 ½- x 4 ½-inch piece (front board) 
  • One 13 ½- x 4 ½-inch piece (bottom board) 
  • Two 4 ½- x 4 ½-inch pieces (side boards)

MEASURE AND MARK
Measure and Mark

Using the measuring tape, measure and mark cuts on the boards according to the cut list.

CUT
Cut

Use a circular saw to make the straight cuts on the plywood.


Tip: Use a sanding block to smooth any rough edges.

STAIN OR PAINT BOARDS
Stain or Paint Boards

Stain or paint boards prior to assembly, if desired.


Tip: The inside of the box will need to be treated with a polyurethane coating to protect from water damage.

BUILD THE BOTTOM
Build the Bottom
  • Stand the side pieces on each end of the bottom piece. 
  • Attach with brad nails.

ATTACH THE FRONT
Attach the Front
  • Flip the box down and place the front piece on the top of the ends and bottom. This lets you create the front side of the box. 
  • Attach with brad nails.

ATTACH THE BACK
Attach the Back
  • Flip the box over and place the back piece flush to bottom. 
  • Secure it with brad nails.

ATTACH THE ADDRESS NUMBERS
Attach the Address Numbers
  • Use the hardware to attach address numbers.
  • Center the numbers two inches down from the top of the back board.

FINISH
Finish
  • Drill drainage holes in the bottom of the planter box. 
  • Alternatively, use 4-inch terra cotta pots (the box is designed to fit up to three). 
  • On the back of the planter box, attach picture hanging kit hardware.
