The Home Depot offers flexible mulch delivery options nationwide based on the size of your order. For small orders, we can deliver with a car for a $3 fee. As orders grow to medium-sized, we switch to a van for a $35 fee. For massive mulch jobs, we have a fleet of box trucks and flatbeds ready to deliver to your job site for a $79 fee. What if I want to pick up the mulch myself?
Yes, you can pick up your mulch in your own vehicle. We're also ready to help if you need it. After you purchase mulch online with store pickup or buy it in-store, go to the mulch loading zone or drive-thru if your store has one. An Orange Apron will load your small-to-medium mulch order directly into your truck or SUV. For very large orders of bulk yard or bagged mulch, delivery is a wise choice.
How much does it cost for a small order of mulch to be delivered?
If you have a small bagged mulch order, you can get it delivered to your door via a store-fulfilled local delivery service that uses third-party drivers. Your mulch will arrive in a standard car or van for just a $3 delivery fee. Yard mulch, also called bulk or loose mulch, will come in a truck. If you order a specific number of bags, you may qualify for free delivery. That threshold varies from store to store. However, you'll be able to verify the cost at checkout.
How much mulch qualifies for large truck or flatbed delivery?
When you're ordering pallets of bagged mulch or huge quantities of yard mulch, you'll be looking at box truck or flatbed delivery. Often, these are landscapers, Pro customers, or serious DIYers undertaking a major landscaping project. There's usually a delivery fee and minimum pallet order. Orders that pass a threshold may qualify for free delivery.
What are good ways to get rid of weeds?
Weeds are likely poking through in the garden beds, even if you put down mulch or a landscape liner fabric to keep them at bay. Pull out weeds from the root in edible flower or vegetable gardens, and dig up the roots if the weed snaps off at the surface. Be sure to get them before they go to seed. If you'd like to treat weeds with weed killer, check that it's safe for pollinators and pets — and wear a respirator and durable rubber gloves to ensure that it doesn't irritate your lungs or skin.
Can I fix scorched grass?
You'll need to rehydrate those roots. The solution for how to get burnt grass green again is easy: Fix the scorched spot with a good long drink, then continue to water it regularly. It should perk up within the next week. On the other hand, the method for treating grass damaged by dog urine isn't as simple. Grass damaged by pets must be removed, neutralized, and replanted in fresh soil with new sod, grass, or patch and repair grass seed.
How often should I water my garden?
If you can water at least once a day, during the early morning or in the evening, that's ideal. When it's the height of summer, twice is better. Avoid applying more often than recommended. Always water immediately after, as directed. That way, the plants won't be burned by the fertilizer.

That means you'll need to consider how to keep things cool with proper tending and irrigation. Just like we can get sunburned, plants can dry out, grass can get scorched, and trees can lose their leaves prematurely. We've got advice to help you, your garden, and your lawn sail through the hotter months with flying colors.
Keep Your Lawn Tidy
As the weeks tick by, the sod or grass seed you planted will grow taller than what's ideal. Eventually, it'll need some maintenance to look fresh again. Keep the lawn in check with a self-propelled lawn mower and a string trimmer to knock down any tall grass around fences, buildings, or sidewalks.
Bushes, trees, and shrubs climb toward the sun and lose their shape over time. They're growing fast, filled with blooms and buds before you know it. Trim wild branches to the shape you want with garden shears and hedge trimmers. It's best to leave major tree maintenance and tree topping to the pros, but you may want to use a pole saw for minor trims and a chainsaw for small branches on trees and bushes.

Melons and squash require hammocks made of old nylons, string, a sling, or other stretchy fabric to support the weighty produce. All of these plants take up less space on the ground this way, which allows you to have walking room between plants or fit even more of them.

Trees are the ultimate natural source of shade, and they can change the appearance of your yard. Whether you plant a few trees as accents, a few more to bear fruit, or a whole mini-forest, keep in mind this is a long-term commitment. Trees live many decades when they're healthy. Learn how to plant a tree before you shop — whether you're planting deciduous tree saplings, evergreens, or more mature trees.
A backyard forest can be the stuff of dreams, but research what you're planting beforehand. Consider the full-grown size of the trees you want, how far the root ball extends outward, and how deep the taproots go. Plant your trees far from plumbing pipes, as their strong roots will seek water and creep into piping to get it. Leave a safe distance from your home, as large trees can catch the wind if not properly pruned.
