When you're ready to leap into a DIY project, you might not have everything you need in the shed or garage. That's when you should stop by The Home Depot Tool Rental Center in Lemon Grove.
Tool Rental
Our tool rental choices expand your toolbelt and toolbox with the precise tools you need to complete the job. It's not practical to keep a specific tool when you're only using it once in a while. When you're thinking about getting a new tool, try it out first before you decide which to buy. Whatever your situation, we have just what you're looking for.
Make Painting Easier with Rental Scaffolding and Ladders
Take advantage of longer spring days and paint outdoors. Rent paint sprayers to get optimal coverage and work much faster than you would with a brush or roller and a paint tray. Rent ladders and scaffolding to reach high locations when painting fences, houses, and sheds. We carry extension ladders and step ladders for medium or smaller jobs, so you won't have to wait when you're feeling motivated to check that job off the to-do list.
Rent Floor Sanders, Shop Vacs, Post Hole Diggers, and More
Tackle serious jobs with serious power tool rentals. Take your scuffed hardwood floor to the next level with a floor sander rental and a wet/dry vacuum to get the floors smooth and ready for refinishing. Construct a new fence around your home more efficiently with a post hole digger rental, then use other concrete tools to securely set your fence posts.
Rental Trucks
Choose one of our trucks when you need a cargo van or truck. It's great for hauling a tool rental. With excellent availability and a price to match, our vehicles are ready when you are. We've also got box trucks and Penske moving trucks to help ease the stress of a big move. Availability varies by store, so check our FAQ or speak to an Orange Apron to ensure you choose the right rental truck for you.
Large Equipment Rentals
Handle expansive projects with pro equipment. Our large equipment rentals give you the power you need. From the boom lifts to give you a boost to the mini excavators and mini skid steers capable of hauling materials on outdoor job sites, we've got an expansive variety of equipment available. If a large equipment rental could help you, explore our selection to see what we've got in stock.
Although we're mentioning popular tool, truck, and large equipment rentals, our rental center may not have everything on hand for your required time frame. If you've got a particular piece of equipment in mind, please contact your local rental center to see where you can pick it up.
How do I rent a piece of large equipment, a tool, or a truck?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what's available. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool, truck, or large equipment. You can also check out our truck rental or tool and equipment rental pages to see if what you need is available at your favorite store. For more details on renting tools or large equipment, read these Tool Rental FAQs, which includes terms and conditions for the equipment.
Can I rent large equipment or a tool by the hour?
Tool rentals and large equipment rentals start at four hour time slots. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a rental for a few hours, and major projects can also be accommodated. You've got options to rent tools by the week, month, or day, too. If you need it longer than your initial rental period, call your Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You can return the tools early if you complete your project ahead of schedule, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off any grime and dust from the tool as well. If you need them longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I choose how long to rent a truck?
Rent a truck or cargo van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on how long your project is. Don't forget to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you must return it to the same store where you rented it. Penske moving truck rentals allow round-trip options as well as one-way options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract and terms and conditions before choosing your vehicle.
Do I need to refuel the rental truck when I'm done?
Yes, please fill up the truck before you bring it back. Match the amount of gas that was in the tank when you received the rental. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll have to pay a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent large equipment or a truck?
No, you also need to be 21 or older, in addition to holding a valid driver's license. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a deposit or credit card hold, too. Please bring your credit card for Home Depot truck rentals, as we don't accept cash. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements. Large equipment or select tools also require ID verification via CLEAR.
Do I need to go get my rented large equipment from the store?
Depending on your location, you can get large equipment dropped off at your job site for a reasonable cost — at your home or out in the field. We'll need at least 24 hours notice so we can prepare your rental delivery for you and you'll need to rent it for a full day. In places where delivery isn't available, speak to an associate for the best way to get your large equipment.
What are some ways to avoid penalties and extra fees on my large equipment rentals?
Think of your large equipment rentals as any other vehicle: Make sure it's parked legally and you obey traffic laws. Read the operator's manual so you're using it correctly to avoid damaging the equipment or injuring yourself. Also, plan ahead to ensure the equipment is ready when you are. If you cancel within 12 hours of your scheduled delivery, you'll pay a cancellation fee. Make sure to return equipment by the deadline or extend the rental period to accommodate the extra hours or days you require.
