How do I rent a truck or tool?
Stop by the Rental Center at your nearest Home Depot to see what tools and trucks are up for rent. If you want to be sure of what's in stock, call first to inquire about a tool or truck. Can I rent tools by the hour?
You can rent a tool for four hours or more. Simply choose the length of time that suits you. Small DIY jobs may only require a short rental period, and long-term projects aren't a problem either. You've got options to rent tools by the week, day, or month, too. If you need it longer than anticipated, call the Rental Center to arrange an extension and avoid late fees.
When do I return the tools?
You're welcome to return the tools early if you finish your project sooner than predicted, but on-time works, too. Just make sure to bring them back by the deadline listed on your rental paperwork. Please clean off mud and grime from the tool as well. If you need it longer, give the rental center a call to see if you can extend your rental period.
Can I rent a truck for a week?
Rent a truck or moving van for as long as you need it. For short trips, 75 minutes might be enough time. Otherwise, consider renting it by the day or the week, depending on the length of your project. Be sure to factor in the drive between the store and the job site, as you'll need to return it to the same store you rented it from. Penske moving truck rentals allow one-way rentals as well as round-trip options, and they have different terms. Make sure to read the contract before you select a van.
Should I refill the rental truck before I bring it back?
Yes, please fuel up the truck before you return it. Note the fuel level when you receive the truck, and be sure to fill it with enough gas to match that same level. When you don't refill the vehicle, you'll be hit with a penalty known as the fuel replacement charge.
Do I just need a driver's license to rent a truck?
No, you must hold a valid driver's license and be over the age of 21. Depending on your state, you might require car insurance, as well as a credit card hold or a deposit, too. We don't accept cash for Home Depot truck rentals, so please bring your credit card. Penske moving truck rentals have different requirements.
