What ways are there to get mulch delivered?
This year, enjoy free mulch delivery from our stores when you meet a purchase threshold. Our associates partner with a third-party, delivering your mulch in a vehicle that matches your project needs. Small orders arrive via car with a $3 fee, medium orders utilize our vans for a $35 fee, and large orders will ship to you via box truck or flatbed truck at a $79 fee.
Do you offer self-pickup for mulch orders?
Yes, you're welcome to pick up your mulch yourself. We're also ready to help if you need it. After you buy mulch in-store or online with store pickup, go to the drive-thru or mulch loading zone if your store has one. An associate will load your small-to-medium mulch order directly into your truck or SUV. For very large orders of bagged mulch or yard mulch, delivery is easiest.
Does my mulch get delivered in a car or van instead of a truck?
If you have a small bagged mulch order, you can get it delivered to your door via a store-fulfilled local delivery service that uses third-party drivers. Your mulch will arrive in a standard car or van for just a $3 delivery fee. Loose mulch orders, also called yard or bulk mulch, will come in a truck. If you order a specific number of bags, you may get free delivery. That threshold varies from one store to the next, but you'll be able to verify the cost at checkout.
Who qualifies for flatbed or large truck mulch delivery?
When you're ordering pallets of bagged mulch or huge quantities of yard mulch, you'll qualify for flatbed or box truck delivery. Normally, these are serious DIYers, Pro customers, or landscapers working on a major landscaping project. There's a minimum pallet order to maximize resources and usually a delivery fee. Orders that pass a threshold may qualify for free delivery.
How do I treat weeds?
Weeds are likely poking through in the garden beds, even if you put down a landscape fabric or mulch to keep them at bay. Be sure to get them before the weeds' flowers dry out and drop their seeds. Pull out weeds from the root in edible flower or vegetable gardens, and dig up the roots if the weeds snap off at ground level. If you choose to treat weeds with weed killer, find one that's safe for pollinators and pets — and wear a respirator and durable rubber gloves to ensure that it doesn't irritate your skin or your lungs.
Can I fix scorched grass?
The solution for how to get burnt grass green again is easy: Fix the scorched spot with a lengthy drink. You'll need to rehydrate those roots. It should perk up within the next week. On the other hand, the method for treating grass damaged by dog urine isn't as simple. Grass damaged by pets must be removed, neutralized, and replaced in fresh soil with new grass, sod, or patch and repair grass seed.
How often should I water my garden?
If you can water at least once a day, during the early morning or in the evening, that's ideal. When it's extremely hot out, twice is better. Watering when the sun is at its peak means much of the moisture will evaporate. This applies to whatever you're growing: trees, grass, plants, and veggies. Whenever you water, give all the plants a good drink, and don't skip it just because it's not the ideal time. The plants still need hydration, no matter what time it is. Depending on your grass type, climate, and lawn health, you may also want to look into adding a lawn fertilizer.
Does my flower garden need fertilizer?
Once you've got your plants into pots or the ground, make sure they stay hydrated and well-fed. Choose an organic or synthetic fertilizer to give your garden a boost. You can even find one intended for your plants, whether you need a vegetable fertilizer, fruit tree fertilizer, succulent plant food, or a general garden fertilizer. Avoid applying more often than recommended. Always water immediately after, as directed. That way, the plants won't be burned by the fertilizer.
How can I keep cool this summer?
When you need a break from working in the yard, shelter beneath a covered gazebo or a patio umbrella. If you have sturdy structures like a house or a shed, make your own shade by attaching shade sails and awnings. However, sometimes shade isn't enough because it's just too humid out. As the weeks tick by, the grass seed or sod you planted will grow taller than what's ideal. You'll need to maintain it so it'll look fresh and manicured again. Keep the lawn in check with a push lawn mower and a string trimmer to knock down any tall grass around buildings, fences, or sidewalks.
Bushes, trees, and shrubs climb toward the sun and lose their shape over time. In the summer, they'll be growing fast, filled with buds before you know it. Prune them to show off their beauty with garden shears and hedge trimmers.
