1-1/2 in. Deep Soak Max Drain in Satin Nickel is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap! The drain stopper broke within the first 6 months of owning. No replacement parts. We have had the tub for 5 years and still no replacement parts. Be ready to spend more money to replace. Very difficult to clean as well!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Like others, drain does not hold water-wrong gasket size? We purchased this product in April 2014, but due to various reasons, just got around around to using the tub it is installed in last night. Angry that after all this time, finally able to enjoy a nice, soaking bath, we are unable to use BECAUSE THE TUB WILL NOT HOLD WATER. Wrong size gasket? Poorly designed drain stopper? Malfunctioning drain stopper? Not sure yet. Until we call American Standard and figure it out will be using an old fashioned rubber stop-up plug with chain if we can find one that fits, that is. The plug is designed to be adjusted to fit further into the drain pipe if needed so that when depressed the plug will go all the way down and stop up the water, but when we adjusted all the way, there is still a sizable gap between plug and bottom of tub. we'll see how the rest of the product holds up over time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Gasket don't fit The inner side of the overflow gasket squeezes out of shape when you tighten the overflow to the tub. When you tighen it just enough not to squeeze out the inner side, the outer side has a gap of about 1/16 inch. Had to fill the gap with silicone. For good measure, I loaded the inner side with silicone also. Some of the parts are preassembled but I can't see how? are they screwed? soldered? or glued? Can't trust the joints based upon the trouble I had with the overflow gasket, so I squeezed silicone into the gaps there also. The "toe tapper" stopper is made of cheap light weight plastic. This part will be touched the most (at least 2 times for every bath). A/S should have gotton their vendor to make it solid metal chrome finish, as many other bathtub stoppers do, and charged a few dollars more. There was a noticable ridge/wave on the chrome decorative piece covering the overflow. Poor finish and quality control. I am installing this tub as part of my wife's dream bathroom. I expect it to last at least ten years or more. I don't expect to be chopping floors or walls to repair a cheap poor quality controlled product and the resulting damage from a leak in a few years because A/S wanted to save a few cent here and there. This product does not give me the confidence that this will be a permanent installation and will last as long as I expect. A/S, even if you don't make this product in America, make it to American standards....I would rather pay a few dollars more to insure that I don't have to tear my walls or ceiling down to fix it later.

If you are buying an American standard deep soak tub be warned - the drain is problematic. I actually ended up buying this one for spare parts to fix the toe tapper from the first one I bought. Hopefully they redesign the drain or the tub or both. The gasket which seals to drain to the bottom of the tub would always leak because it was too thin. There was a gap even when the drain was tightened down all the way. I ended up finding a thicker gasket at a hardware store and that solved the first issue. The overflow gasket gets easily pushed out of shape and leaks too. I only got a marginal seal after first applying silicone to the tub and gluing the overflow gasket in place, letting it dry before installing the drain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor quality, no parts Bought this drain about 5 years ago in white finish. The paint on the top plate started pealing after 2 years and the stopper gasket just failed. Unfortunately, American Standard does not sell the rubber separately so it is more economical for me to buy the whole drain assembly rather than getting those two parts separately.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from The toe touch drain is chrome on plastic. The one piece that gets the most wear. After installing, I had to remove the drain, solder the factory joint between drain and pipe. So they must not pressure check. Make sure YOU do before intsalling

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Instruction step missing Well you only get one choice of drain for the tub we bought and this is it. Please note the instructions do not indicate the pipe coming directly out of the drain is not sealed with anything. It comes pre-installed but there is no Teflon tape or anything on the threads to keep it from leaking. Check this before you install

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Would have one star if it had not been for... Would have one star if it had not been for the good service of the Amer Std help desk FedEx'ing me a part. The brass overflow pipe would not fit into the brass T. This was not discovered until the plumber was ready to install the tub and held up the overall remodeling project. Check for fit.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Didn't like the stopper... Connecting the pipes was easy enough and overall it is a fair value. However, I couldn't get the push plug to adjust to the right depth to either hold water or stay in the down position no matter how much I adjusted it on either end. I ended up buying a replacement step lock stopper that I like better. The new one I bought was also brushed nickel as opposed to the white plastic and I still ended up saving more money than buying the brushed nickel version of this drain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Drain top looks to be made of cheap plastic. The drain top looks to be made of cheap plastic. You spend 100$ more than the standard white drain trying to make the bath tub as nice as possible for the master bath only to discover that the drain cover is cheap plastic. The top piece looks nice. The rest of the drain is exactly like the standard white drain. I can't believe that the drain cap is just plastic.Save your money and order the default drain.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Defective product, but I fixed it Overall this product fit its intended purpose, however upon assembly and testing there was a leak in the pre-soldered ELL joint that connects to the tub. I had to remove it and re-solder this joint and that fixed the leak. I wrote a message to American Standard 2 weeks ago...still no response whatsoever. For a high dollar item, I'm not happy that I had to repair it, but not surprised either.

Acrylic Reversible Drain Bathtub. Per manufacturer indications, this is a tub model that this drain is made for. However, even though the drain fit it does not hold water from draining even when in the "stop" position. Very disappointed and not sure how to fix this problem.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopper needs new design! As others have noted, the stopper quit working - mine after about 4 months' use. Very disappointing. You'd think they would have re-designed this by now. I'm currently using a rubber stopper. This - after a very expensive snazzy bathroom re-model. I feel especially wronged, since it's the only drain that works with the tub, and it cost a LOT to have it installed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bad design Clogs easily. Set screw on knob is flat tip. Should be hex or allen. Something you could get a tool on easily. Wish we would have made our own.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Quality This drain is not brass construction but black PVC even though the picture in ad shows all brass.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stopper failed after four months Toe-tap stopper failed after four months and tub won't hold water. The replacement part is back-ordered, which doesn't surprise me based on other reviews. What does surprise me is that American Standard hasn't re-designed this stopper since it appears to be so unreliable. Cheap rubber one works fine for now, but is a big disappointment after expensive snazzy bathroom remodel. Too bad there are no other drain options to use with the tub.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love the deep tub design but the components = junk As most people on here have said the drain won't close or pop open correctly after 6 months to a year and the sticker that covers the screws peels off and looks gross.Water was leaking through to the basement so I took the top apart to take a look and the gasket had already fallen apart. Searching the website brought me here, still can't find a replacement gasket.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This deep max drain doesn't hold water I had this tub and drain installed four months ago. When you try and take a bath the drain doesn't hold water and makes a loud annoying sound. It is really hard to get it to actually work. Now to change it will cost me a lot since all the work was custom.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Deep soak drain This drain is a pain. It keeps on leaking thru the overflow I have re-install the drain a few times. I haven't had the time to order a replacement to install and replace it so my new tub has some plastic with duct tape on the overflow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Good product but pop-up leaks Overall good quality product, easy to install, with the exception of the pop-up which gets stuck and /or leaks because it does not close properly and let the water drain.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from At least it's pretty I bought this drain because it's the only one that will fit my American Standard Jet tub. It was fairly easy to install (with 2 people) and is sturdy. The problem I've had is that the drain will not adjust enough to get a good seal and hold water. I came on here to see if others had this problem and had found a solution. Seems almost everyone had a problem with this and the only real solution I saw was to use a rubber stopper. I hate that I have this really nice and expensive drain and now it seems I'll be using a rubber plug. :-( . But at least it's pretty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works fantastic American standard help gave fast response! I have seen several comments about parts not being available for this item. Received ours and honestly we have had it awhile but finally got installed with AS whirlpool tub. BUT the stopper was not working. I called the 800 number (now available on Saturday too) and within minutes my replacement part is on the way. No hassle no fuss. Wish it wouldn't have been broken out of the box but if replacement is this easy we are A-Okay!!! Much prefer brass to PVC or plastic so this was the choice for us.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Overall quality product. However I have no clue why American Standard makes it from brass. As all... Overall quality product. However I have no clue why American Standard makes it from brass. As all such kind drain it's pretty heavy and it's hard to align it for installation. Moreover, all modern drain pipes are made of PVC and there is no ways to connect brass to PVC forever. This connection will be always much less reliable than PVC glued to PVC. I had to purchase it and to install only because no other choices I had.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from JUNK !!!!! Stopper never worked! Chrome at top and bottom are now pitting. Only in service for 6 months, couldn't be more displeased. What a piece of junk! Consumers need to avoid the tub that requires this overflow. What a shame for a company to sell this trash. Only alternative is to replace ever six months at a price of $75.00 to keep a newly remodeled bath looking new, Buyer beware!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from drain After installing had a leak thought it was the plug itself come to find out after hr of working on its It was the factory part of drain that was leaking. So instead of pulling back out (we'd been without tub for few days working in small space)we had to use water weld jb to stop leak now works just fine. So before installing make sure factory joints don't leak.
