Gibraltar's Galvanized Steel 1-1/2 inch wood screws are fitted with a watertight neoprene gasket, making them the ideal fastener to install metal roofing panels on to a wood roof deck. The galvanized plating protects against corrosion. This screw is manufactured with a high-low thread pattern to provide superior pull-out strength and strip resistance. The self-piercing tip eliminates the need for pre-drilling, making roof installations faster and easier.

Q:Will these work to secure metal flashing on composite shingle roof?

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry. These fasteners have been used to secure metal roofing to a shingle roof on the low side of the panels and 2” fasteners through the ribs for over lap. As for metal flashing not knowing the application and type of shingle it becomes more trial and error.
We suggest testing with 1-1/2” or 2” fastener with rubber grommet.

A: should be fine the washer just has to sit flat to seal

A: Thank you for your inquiry. They are recommended for metal roofing panels. They can also be used on polycarbonate panels, however, you must fasten them where the panels is against the surface below it (in the low point of the ribs). If you put this (or any) screw at the high point of the panel, you will risk cracking the polycarbonate panel.

Purchased these screws to re-install roofing tin after rebuilding the roof rafters the carpenter bees turned the bare standard wood construction into swiss cheese. I built the entire replacement roof system using treated wood which will get a coat of oil based paint once the treated wood dries out a few more weeks. The screws are of a good length and make a super tight seal once they bite the wood. Getting them to drill through the "v" peak of the roof tin was a bit difficult for a few screws but mainly because of the leverage on the drill at the height and reach I was working. None of the screws leak after a heavy rain. Bought them in a bag of 100 count instead of the small pack and saved some bucks. I'll eventually use them when I do the back side of the shop that has the same type of tin but less damage from the carpenter bees. Don't know why - it's the same wood. And the the carpenter bee traps I hung are working great!
