My garbage disposal was 17-1/2 years when it failed and it used a threaded connection for the drainage pipe. The new Badger 1 (slightly different model number 1-87 vs. 1-81) uses a tailpipe connection that has a gasket followed by a flanged elbow pipe and a metal flange secured to the disposer with a pair of bolts.
I needed a straight flange to tie into my existing plumbing and this was the ticket. I cut 2 inches off the end of it and used it in-lieu of the original beveled discharge tube and it worked great

Used for Insinkerator Discharge
I wanted to fit a new garbage disposal with my current plumbing setup. Badger 900 only came with 90 degree (down) discharge tube and this is what I found worked to get a straight discharge tube that sealed properly with the Insinkerator.
