Cant say much about the manufacturer's intended purpose of this threaded bar, only about mine. Grabbed a piece of this 36" 3/4 - 10 bar. A few corresponding nuts and washers accompanied it. Cut bar in half, added a few pieces of lumber cut to specific dimensions and wallah...a MOXON VISE was born. See pics

We used the threaded rod on a ledger board installed under our home. The ledger board is used to hold steps leading down from our foundation. This foundation is 12 inches thick and was poured around 1915. We decided to drill through the foundation and use threaded rod to hold the board. We were not confident that the old concrete would accept anchors that bind in the concrete. This idea worked perfectly as you can see in the picture.

For a general purpose piece of threaded rod, this is pretty good quality. It measured exactly 36" long, thread pitch measured to spec. The zinc coating is good quality. Source is India. It cuts easily with a hacksaw or bandsaw (I used a portable band saw). The threads on one end were banged up but that's easily fixed in 30 seconds with a grinder. I was able to sping a 3/4 nut from one end to the other with one finger, so the threads are good the whole length. I used this to draw a new bearing on to the spindle in my lathe, it worked perfect. I'm sure I'll find a ton of other uses for it in the shop.

Everbilt 3/4 in. x 36 in. Zinc Threaded Rod I purchase them when holding doubles or triple 2 X 12 floor joists to prevent them from separating. Just quickly take a disc cutoff 1/8” thick wheel and the threads cut easily with little or no damage for bolts to come off if necessary. There are many other uses. You local Home Depot had many more threaded rods in various diameters and lengths in the hardware section. If you don’t see what yo want go to Home Depot.com and have it shipped free to your local store.

This Everbilt threaded steel rod is also available in a variety of other diameters and rod lengths. It is fabricated from zinc plated steel, making it the perfect solution for an endless variety of repair and construction projects, as the zinc coating provides some weather protection, and it is a good looking product. It is rated as suitable for most general-purpose uses, including anchor bolts, clamps, hangers, constructing U-bolts and much more. For some projects, such as constructing equipment hangers and suspension rods, it is often the only way to get the exact lengths and shape conformance you need, when off the shelf finished hardware such as exactly the U-Bolt you need simply isn’t made. This rod is defined as "one half inch by 13", which means the number of threads per running inch of length is 13, something you need to know to select nuts and washers to fit it. 13 threads per inch is defined as “course thread”, which is preferred for general purpose work such as custom sized concrete anchor bolts, as course thread rod is less prone to thread damage in handling, and it gets a stronger “bite” than fine thread does when excellent strength is called for. Unlike standard length off the shelf bolts, which are hard to find in lengths over 8 inches, you are providing the “bolt head” in the form of a matching threaded nut that must be tightened down on it, so the use of a suitable heavy lock washer is recommended to resist vibration induced loosening that can happen over time. There are a few “tricks” to handling and cutting threaded rod without damaging the threads and to preserve left-over cut lengths for future use that I have attached photos to explain. Home Depot sells a large selection of Everbilt metal products in steel and aluminum and hardware as well, making it a "go to" for the home craftsman. I have used a lot of this threaded rod in all sizes, and I like working with it, because you are not forced to alter your project for the lack of being able to get "just the right size" hardware.

This is quality heavy duty threaded rod. The zinc plating is smooth and even. I plan on using it on the corners of my old barn. Its roof is starting to sag and the side walls push out. I figure one of these in the corner sills will prevent any further shifting and I can slowly tighten them over time, while using turnbuckles and cable as collars. At this point, getting the roof line true is unlikely, but stabilizing it is key.
