Product Overview

Our proprietary Southern Hemp potting soil was formulated on our hemp farm in Tennessee using aged forest products, compost, worm castings, Canadian sphagnum peat, and coco-coir, Berger Bugs beneficial microbes, and perlite. This potting soil is full of organic matter allowing the microbes to flourish and support strong root development and nutrient uptake. The compost, Sphagnum peat, and worm castings allow the mix to retain some moisture and hold onto essential nutrients. The aged forest products and perlite add porosity to the mix allowing more oxygen to the plant's root zone. It is ready to use right out of the bag. For best results when transplanting seedlings, use slow release organic fertilizers to help your girls get their best start.
  • Use in raised beds, greenhouse, and container gardening
  • Formulated by hemp farmers
  • Increase BRIX levels for more aromatic and sweeter tasting flower
  • Also good for most flowers, vegetables, and herbs
  • For best results, use a slow release organic fertilizer

Seems to work good just started some bout a week ago and doing great. Funny thing though i ran out and needed soil for one more 5 gal pot real quick but i couldnt find any of my regular soil (fox farm, black gold or anything else) so the only thing i could find was miracle grow organic soil that fed your plants for 30 days, never seen it before but had to get it. Well, used the miracle gro two days after i transplanted into your soil and the plant was looking ok when i did it. Both plants were bout same size and your soil had a 2 day head start, well let me tell you overnight the miracle gro plant has now dwarfed the plant in your soil, its now taller and i swear the leaves grew alot in width and length! I have 3 plants in your soil and they are doing great, but i swear i think i can see that plant growing in the miracle gro it is kicking your soils butt and yours at 32.00 a bag and miracle gro at 8.00 a bag and it is also organic, its a no brainer. I have no dog in this fight im just telling you what happened to me its the truth that darn mgro soil grows that herb! Yours is great soil but results dont lie! Only thing negative about yours too pricey for the amount you get. Can buy 4 bags of mgro to one of yours!

Truly amazing product and exciting small seemingly family run business. They care and go through enormous efforts to do right by customers, plants and the environment. Reasonably priced and after researching organic gardening done correctly, they hit every high point. I chose to compare buying individual ingredients vs a package deal. Most mixes had problems. I used to just buy soil and expect plants to grow. :) It is aged, incorporates compost, worm castings, Canadian spagnum peat (which I am working to avoid bc is unsustainable, but is still organic here and worth something), coco-coir (the sustainable version of the moss), perlite, and this magic called Berger Bugs. They are so far ahead of the curve. I wanted a base that could be used with most of my plants, then to be able to modify with amendments as needed. This does that. So, Berger Bugs have different bacillus types that have anti-fungal, plant growth rhizobacteria, root-colonizing bacteria. Bacillus increasing stress tolerance (with I could eat it and have that happen lol), as well as the ability to deter pathogens. Next...endomycorrhizae. This is so important according to most of the literature out there. Humic acid, fulvic acid, amino acids, kelp, and black strap molasses. I will report back re the results when used in plants, but I was impressed that they knew the right way which is shown in their choice of aged ingredients and what they incorporated. They have other products and seem to only sell here or in bulk from the co directly. Also got the Organic Compost Plus which I am about to try. Probably will just need the Southern Hemp mix bc it has everything!! I’m adding azomite, lime as needed, vermiculite. Maybe wood ash etc. I have read some reviews that were very positive about this company. I think if a company mass produces and gets too big, that quality can suffer. I’m late in starting in the season, bc needed to nerd out and try to do it right during pandemic. Good luck!!

Good organic (no chemical) option for hemp and vegetables.
I was looking at organic (no chemical fertilizers) potting soils that were more specifically formulated for growing hemp. I decided on Head River's hemp mix, and it has been working great so far. This year's hemp seedlings have really taken off. It also works great for tomatoes and cucumbers as mine have been doing very well so far in the Southern Hemp Mix.
