Will this valve work with a 13 volt selnoid? If not do you stock one that will?

Will this valve work with a 13 volt selnoid? If not do you stock one that will?
Asked by: MRL
This valve has the solenoid built in. I have used it from a range of 10-20 volts DC- it's quite forgiving.

Do the solenoids usually buzz when they are open and flowing?
Asked by: chris
Mine does not buzz at all - but I am powering with a clean DC power supply - and sometimes a battery. If you have a little bit of AC component in your power supply, that could cause a humm. Mine is so quiet, it's not even easy to hear the "click" of the solenoid engagement. A higher-quality power supply for your (sprinkler) system would probably eliminate the buzz and improve the flow control for you (no leaks).

Is there more flow resistance (pressure drop) with this valve compared to the old style Orbit 1" in line valves?
Asked by: glblack
glblack, you should not be seeing any real drops in pressure after the water goes through the valve. If that does happen, please contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156 and we'll do all we can to help resolve the issue. Thanks!

My valves I installed and the flow direction is right but for some reason every time I turn on I need shut off the main

Because they don't stop I cleaned and do everything and they don't stop a need shut off the main valve
Asked by: Jose
Jose, thank you for the question. Water pressure builds on top of the diaphragm to close the valve so water pressure is not getting to the top of the diaphragm fast enough, water is leaking out where it shouldn't, or something is physically holding the diaphragm open. Here is the step-by-step process you can follow for troubleshooting: 1. Turn off pressure to the valves. 2. Remove the valve lid. 3. Inspect the diaphragm seal for debris (small rocks or something embedded in the diaphragm). 4. If the diaphragm seal looks good, look at the solenoid plunger seal for damage or embedded debris. 5. If either one of these seals has debris, you can try removing the debris. If the debris did too much damage, you may just have to replace the diaphragm or solenoid. 6. If the issue is not one of these two replaceable components, you most likely need to return the valves to the store for replacement. If you have any questions at all, please contact our Support team at 1-800-488-6156. We'd be more than happy to help in any way we can. Thanks!

1 in. NPT Green Jar Top Valve is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for t-shirt launchers Used this for a t-shirt launcher. Worked great. Only down side is the voltage rating. Would have been nice to work at 12V or 9V but hey, its a sprinkler valve lol. Note this will work on 24 AC or DC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from sprinkler valve sku 220377 Installed four of these and they all worked like a charm. Just drained them during the winter and they started up without any problems next spring. Sold that house and am buying 3 more for our new house

Rated 5 out of 5 by from To the first two revewers: If you use enough teflon tape, there should not be a problem installing/removing the pipe (i.e. no ratcheting). These sprinkler valves require pressure to seal. The water pressure on top of the diaphragm forces it against the water outlet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from best valve configeration This style of valve is the easiest to clean out debris or replace working parts in the event of freezing damage or defects.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Beware, it leaks even without pressure I bought 3pcs of these valve and they all leaked straight out of the box. I poured water into the 1" inlet port and the leak came from the diaphragm sealing pass out from the outlet end. That was without pressure, just pure gravity flow.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Housing leaks, Don't waste your time and money Bought Three of these and within a month they all started leaking. I originally thought it was my fittings or solenoid but after closely inspecting it found that the housing was leaking. I know they are cheap and you want to save money but believe me its not worth it. You'll end up having to dig up the old and replace with a better valve. Also don't buy the $1 sprinkler heads because the top blows off of them(had to dig up all the old ones and replace as well). DON'T GO CHEAP you'll regret it.

These valves work perfectly with Orbit's battery timer though you'll need to change-out the solenoids for the battery ones. Have 4 of them in a manifold at a remote location and after several months of heavy use they are performing flawlessly. Just be sure to follow Orbit's advice and use at least 7 turns of teflon tape when threading the fittings into either end. I did and have no leaks. Also remember that these types of valves need a certain amount of line pressure to properly shut-off.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Product simply does not do the job on low pressure/volume systems Bought 8 valves for upgrading an old system and have had nothing but problems. The valve heads leak and require constant service if you have any kind of dirty water. The valves regularly do not shut off so you end up with multiple circuits trying to run at the same time. Requires constant attention on my low pressure, low volume irrigation system. You get what you pay for...
