A:Â Thank you for your question. The Gibraltar ridge cap is placed on top of pre-glued closure strips (outside). A strip of butyl tape is applied to the closure strip to improve weather tightness. The ridge cap is fastened by # 9 x 1-1/2 in. metal roofing screws, in an opposing manor, directly across from each other into the high rib of the panel approximately 6 in. O.C.

Even though it is colored galvalume, some areas of the finish were already scratched through the color coat on both the ridge cap and the roof panels. I was under the impression that the coloring on galvalume would be much more durable that this.
