Answer This Question

A:  From reading the descriptions of the two series I found basically three differences. (1) The 1170 series is more expensive. (2). The 1170 series replaces two other series. (3) The 1170 series can be bought with a zinc coating.

Had to Drill Holes to Install Hardware
My 18 yr old 34" TV died; so, I bought a new 40" TV to replace it; but, the new TV won't fit in the old entertainment center. I used these drawer slides to mount a 1"X12" board in the old TV hole and I bolted a TV Mount to it: Mount IT part # MI-4222; and, hung the new TV in its place. It's all secure now and makes it easy to access the cables in the back of the TV; so, that's cool. What bugs me about these slides is in many places, to install mounting hardware, I had to create or hog out access holes, with a drill & a Dremel, to mount the screws into position. Of course, these metal shavings or saw dust got into the bearings; so, these slides don't move as freely as when they were new. Please let the manufacturer know to put in more access holes and larger access holes. Take a look at these photos.

      Work great and very affordable
I used these to make a slide out for my DeWalt Miter saw, the saw is about 60 lb and sits on a shelf behind my table saw. With these now I can slide out my saw far enough to lift it off or put it back away without hurting my back. Now I don't have to go through the hassle every time of moving my table saw just to take this off. Now I want to get another pair so I can slide out my planer.

Ok budget slides, you get what you pay for.
I have bought ones that cost about $13/set and they were good. I read about these and thought I’d save about $5 per set for a cart I made for my table saw. I read these weren’t as smooth as some and had no hardware or instructions. So I knew what I was getting. They install like the other slides. I would buy them again for projects which didn’t require a refined feel. For something inside the house or if I cared more about how they felt, I will probably go back to the $13 slides. As with any cabinet installation for drawers, you must be extremely accurate in your measurements to prevent binding or other issues. I ended up using 1 inch blocks along side the drawers inside the cabinet to ensure the correct width for the slides.

I used eight of these slides to build a spice rack for my kitchen. Worked great! Very sturdy, and easy to install. I couldn't find the hole dimensions or locations, but a tape measure made quick work of integrating these slides into my design. 5/5 Would buy again!

I used these drawer slides in a custom cabinet I built to house music gear in my office/studio. I'm building another of these cabinets for a customer and am ordering these slides again. It's a no-brainer. These drawer slides are very well made. They are comparable to units costing two to three times as much. Installation was a breeze and they function perfectly.
