Q:does baking soda diluted with water to spray thru a weed sprayer kill weeds?

Answer This Question

A:  I sprinkle the soda directly on my Major weed, known as Creeping Charlie or Ground Ivy around here. It doesn't kill the weed totally but it slows it down so I can see some hope. I have never tried spraying it.

    A:  We use this to keep our pool water balanced. I am positive it will not clean the calcium build-up. I have purchased special products for this, that weren't too effective. We finally had a pool company clean it with fine sand or something similar (like san blasting, but no damage). It worked, but our water is hard so the calcium returned after a few years.

      A:  Yes. The bag says that it's 100% Sodium Bicarbonate. I'm fairly certain if it's listed as baking soda that it has to be.

        A:  Yes. Baking Soda is how you increase low alkalinity without appreciably changing pH.  Alkalinity control is the most important part of water chemistry.  Pools using chlorine generators (“salt cells”) drive up pH quickly and need more acid to keep pH down.  When lowering pH with acid you’re also lowering alkalinity.

            Problem with the physical box
            Unfortunately when I opened the tab on the box of Fridge N Freezer Baking Soda, I discovered that there was no covering over the opening. As this is a very large space, I can't use it in the fridge or freezer as I am concerned that it will spill and make a huge mess.
