Will it rust?

Will it rust?
Asked by: HANDYMOM
It is powder coated so I think it will last many years without rust. Mine is on my pool deck so I put an outdoor carpet under it so the base powder coat doesn't get scratched or worn. The carpet is also nice as getting off of a hammock isn't always the most graceful thing people do, so it's nice to have a soft landing if necessary.

15 ft. Steel Hammock Stand in Taupe is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 82.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The color of the stand is nice, and it’s sturdy... The color of the stand is nice, and it’s sturdy and works great. It did rust pretty soon after buying it. It says to bring it in when not using it, but that is not going to happen since it’s heavy and our yard is down a flight of stairs. I had to spray some anti-rust on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy, easy assembly and compact storage Easy KD design with heavy gauge steel tubing, uses spring snaps (push buttons) and goes together very easily, so no loose hardware. Like the beige better than green. Tubing tolerance a little loose fitting at joints, but altogether well finished, quite sturdy, heavy and stable. Comes with chains and fits a full Hatteras/Pawey's Island style rope hammock.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mama's Happy! I purchased this stand with the S-1318HD2 Hammock as an anniversary present for my wife. You know if Mama ain't happy nobody's happy. Well, she loves it! Mission accomplished. It was a breeze to assemble. No tools involved, it just snaps together. There's really only two ways you could screw up, but reading the assembly instructions should prevent that. Also, remember to tighten the hammock after using it a couple times, that should help with the saging issue I read about in a previous review. Removed it from the box, snapped it together, and was lounging in the hammock in about 10 minutes. Best of all it comes apart quick and easy for storage and to get it out of the way of the lawn mower. Mama's Happy and I'm Happy!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very large, but adjustable Initially I was worried since the full length is nearly 16 feet and my patio is only 15, then it got worse when my hammock was too short for the stand. Luckily, it occurred to me that one of the middle poles can be removed to shorten the length of the entire stand and it fit perfectly. I did have to shorten the chain a bit as well, but that didn't even require any tools. This stand is extremely versatile and they don't even advertise it that way.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from happy with purchase This item has heavy and sturdy poles, and even though the connections seem a little wobbly, it is working great with our 7.5' hammock. Just remember to tighten the hammock up with the included chains and hooks, or else you will drag the ground. Supports my 220 lbs easily with no "scariness"! My favorite part is that it easily comes back apart for storage, as we don't have room to leave this set up all the time. Within a couple of minutes I can set it up to enjoy for an afternoon, and then break it back down.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from decent quality for the price This stand is pretty sturdy if put together properly. Just follow the easy directions & it only takes a few minutes-no tools required. It is slightly flexible where it needs to be to accommodate the hammock. I bought the red padded double wide hammock ($99) to go with it & it worked great. I just had to put the hammock on the last chain hook, otherwise it hung way to low. Stand comes with extra chains & hook so i now have an extra set. Very pleased, enjoying it as i type this review.

Picked this one up on sale, but just the same... I'm not really worried about it, but there are minor discrepancies in the specifications (weight limits) between what's on the box and what's in the literature, I believe the literature being less. Also it wasn't clear from the box that there are two different models, each having their own weight limits (determined by square brackets, vs. round -- assuming the base, with the square brackets limited to a lesser supported 450lbs if recollection serves me (vs. 600/650lbs... also, assuming two adults in our case, eg.); and unfortunately, I have the square brackets.) There seems to be a excessive play in the pipe fittings and it feels as if one has to put a lot of "pre-tension" on the chains (raising the uprights) to compensate with the vertical play in the uprights, as the hammock will sink substantially under load otherwise. Once you get a handle on that, and how to calibrate the extra play that will take place after you attempt to sit/lay in it, it becomes acceptable. The large "S"- hooks (for the chains) are simply connected to the upright poles through "unreinforced slits" cut in the upper part of the poles. I'm wondering if the pole's openings will have fatigue over time and tear out as all the weight is being placed on a very little surface area of the pole's lining -- the engineer in me. I've only got to use it several times thus far, but it fits the bill, and is definitely MUCH MORE heavy duty than my previous ones! Hammock not supplied in current packaging.
