This will not be nearly as hot as a propane heater. The advantage of this type of heating is that you can bring it much close to where you want the heat. Infrared does not heat the air, so the heat will warm objects within about an 8 foot radius. The advantage is that with a small wind you will still feel the heat, whereas propane will flow with the air movement. Propane has the heat advantage overall, however the advantages of bringing this close, being able to huse it in a covered area, less danger of burns are the main benefits of this option. Many users will also have propane for some areas of their pation, and infrared where it makes the most sense. This heater will continually warm you and the longer you sit in the warm region, the warmer you will get. This is like the difference of being in the sunshine on a cool day vs. being in the shade. The air is the same temperature, but you feel warmer in the sunshine. That is the infrared at work for you!
