How do I attach wires to Blackburn Splicer Reducer?

Asked by Wellpower August 29, 2014

One wire goes into 1 end, and the other wire is inserted into the other end. Each wire is inserted about 1/2 way thru. This connector will not allow the wire to go in "too far" as there are nubs in its center that block further passage. Insulation MUST be stripped off before inserting. The two big screws you see are then tightened down onto each wire, holding it securely and making good electrical connection. Because each has its own screw, which can be screwed in with more or less depth, the two wires you are joining don't have to be the same gauge. These work very well. For large wires they can get rather bulky, and you will need to insulate them probably.

This is an excellent product, but note that this will not satisfy an inspector where an 'irreversible crimp' is required (i.e. solar grounding), so make sure you read your plans and conform to the NEC.
