Answer This Question

A:  Hello Jimmy, Thank you for your recent inquiry with The Home Depot. Why, our favorite color is Orange, of course! And if you order the #2 X 3-3/4 in. Slotted Screwdriver (100651706) it may not be orange but it will be a terrific choice to complete a host of projects. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future.

Q:How wide is the blade on this "#2" screwdriver.

    Answer This Question

A:  The one I have is approximately 1/4 in. wide

    by|Aug 24, 2020

A:  Blade width at the tip is 1/4"; however, the length of the blade is 4", not 3-3/4".

    by|Aug 25, 2020

    A:  5/16"

    by|Aug 21, 2020

A:  The description is bogus as there is no such thing as a #2 slotted screwdriver. Description on mine is 1/4" x 4". Blade is just a fraction under 1/4" wide and about 4-3/16" long. #2 typically refers to a Phillips head and about 3.5mm in width.

A:  its probably 3/8" at the tip. I'd call it the medium tip.

If you're looking for a basic screw driver this one will fill that roll. Its simple and inexpensive. It is perfect for keeping in a go bag or that drawer that everyone has in their kitchens that stores miscellaneous stuff. The handle is a little small in my hand so I would not want to do a lot of screwing with it. The red and black color looks nice too.

PROS The screwdriver handle is easy to grip, has no rough edges and has a good diameter. The blade is ground square at the end. The shaft appears strong (I have not used it to pry yet). CONS The blade is smooth and has a deviation, which can slip out of the screw head under high torque situations. Of course being made in China is a detractor as well.

This screwdriver worked well when replacing a wall switch plate, an armoire door handle, and a bathroom cabinet knob; each had different types of screws. Though it has a sturdy feel, the handle seems to be made of heavy molded plastic, not rubber as listed on the product description. I was surprised to see no brand name on the red and black handle, just an attached paper tag listing the size and the phrase “Made in China, Distributed by Home Depot.”

Nice size and feel to this screwdriver. I have an older home and thing work loose all the time. I'm constantly putting something back together or tightening up screws. I also have boys who can loose tools at an alarming rate sometimes so an extra screwdriver is always great to have. First use was as a pry bar though, I couldn't get the top off a new container of wipes so I popped it off with the screwdriver!

This is a great flathead screwdriver. I am able to use it for just about all medium sized flathead screws in addition to acting like a small wedge. I recently used it to install face plates for electrical outlets because they require a flathead screwdriver. I also used it to help me remove old trim that needed to be replace. It feels like a quality tool that won't break even if I whacked it with a hammer. If you don't already have a flathead screwdriver you probably should because they are used in just about every home project.

It's tough to pass judgement on a screwdriver in a short period of time. They all engage with and turn screws, but the differentiating measure that separates the functional from the great is a product of abuse. The best don't bend when used as a fulcrum or to pry open a stubborn paint can lid; They don't rust when left outside overnight; Their handles don't crack or shatter when tapped with a hammer. This kind of abuse is cumulative over a period of years -- too long to be incorporated in a review. What I _can_ do is to compare this with the screwdrivers I already had, and already abused, and extrapolate from there. Straight out of the packaging, I was annoyed: This tool had a label wrapped around its shaft, and after removing that, there was adhesive residue, both there and on the blade. My normal adhesive remover (Goo Gone) wasn't effective in removing it, but my 'Plan B', a spray lubricant, did the job. The blade seemed on par with my best screwdrivers, was a perfect fit for electrical outlet screws, and had just enough rounding to minimize the tip as a cut hazard. I didn't detect any 'give' when using the handle as a fulcrum with a tub drain removal tool. The opaque plastic handle was up to the task, but felt less refined and less comfortable in my hand than some others and was similar in design and feel to the most basic, cheapest, products. Not everybody needs an abuse-tolerant, deluxe, screwdriver. If you're looking for a tool to go into your car emergency kit, or a starter toolbox, without breaking the bank, this one checks the right boxes, with a great business-end and a tolerable handle.

You always need a screwdriver...and its never right type! This is your basic generic China screwdriver, but I couldn't pass it up. Because you never have enough screwdrivers. This one is good for that quick use when you need a flat tip. It doesn't have the extra grip ridges to grip the sides of the slot and not slip. No writing on the handles. It is the tool you always need. Not nice enough you don't want to scratch it, but the right size to use on screws, pry a staple out, chisel a hinge, scrape paint and all those other things you do with flat blade screwdrivers!

Not enough positive is said about these CHEAP Screwdrivers. As a general contractor, I've owned quite a few different types of screwdrivers, at all different price points. And one thing that I can tell you that makes the screwdriver different from most of the others, is that the likelihood that someone is going to walk away with it are pretty low. If you work with in environments with other workers, companies, trades, etc, then you know that nice tools have a tendency to "grow legs." This dollar screwdriver gets the job done, and nobody feels obligated to put it in their pocket and take it home. Additionally, I cant tell you how many of these I own because whenever I need one, I just buy one. There are always situations where turning one or two screws are standing between you and the finish line of completing a job. Most of the time a top of the line screwdriver is not necessary, and in those instances, this one will get you by in a pinch without breaking the bank. And it sure beats trying to use your fingernail...
