It is 1 5/8 " so you can put a 2x4 or 2x6 on edge under it. Caution: mine wasn't kiln dried and some were actually wet, which warped within a few days. Fortunately I needed some short pieces and was able to use them anyway. All told, I love the look and would do it again.
Dan, It does not appear that there is a matching end cap; this piece is meant to be a guardrail, not a handrail. If used as intended, there is never an exposed end because both ends of the guardrail are attached to a post.
Great handrail to finish my deck stairs
Bob, While this is designed to be easily graspable, this does not qualify as a graspable handrail for stairs. For an ADA code-compliant, graspable rail on stairs, please consider a secondary handrail from Deckorail, as an addition to your railing. This link should help you: https://www.homedepot.com/p/DeckoRail-95-in-PVC-White-ADA-Hand-Rail-with-Aluminum-Insert-401328/313220315. As you will see from the includes images, the secondary railing is rather attractive, in addition to being practical.
Csete, Those brackets will work with the moulded handrail.
No, it doesn't come in longer lengths.
Hi Rosemary, unfortunately it is not offered. We apologize for the inconvenience. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!
No. They come in 72” lengths.
Your system really sucks!!! You asked for another submission which I attempted. Then you tell me I've duplicated my submission.
not that I saw in the store. The piece I bought was long enough for two railings.
