About This Product

Built for residential exterior projects where moisture exposure is expected, this pressure‑treated lumber delivers dependable durability for outdoor construction when used appropriately. Pressure treated with MCA (Micronized Copper Azole) to help resist rot, decay, and insect damage, this lumber is suitable for exterior applications where pressure‑treated wood is specified. Use suitability-including ground‑contact applications-depends on the specific product rating and local building code requirements. This lumber is commonly used for framing, blocking, and general outdoor construction when installed in accordance with applicable codes. Boards may be painted or sealed after installation if desired. As with most pressure‑treated wood, material may be delivered wet and will naturally dry after installation, during which minor checking or movement may occur. This lumber is not enhanced with a separate water‑repellent treatment unless explicitly specified. Designed to provide long‑term outdoor performance without overstating use conditions, this pressure‑treated lumber offers a practical balance of durability, versatility, and workability for residential exterior projects.

Questions & Answers

What is the difference between #1 and #2 for the wood?
ByJul 24, 2026
1 Answer |
Answer This Question

Hi Norma, #1 grade lumber will have less "defects", meaning it has less knots and is more aesthetically pleasing. #2 grade lumber will have some knots but is still structurally sound.

can i use this to replace boards on my picnic table
    ByMay 18, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Gmas, Yes, you can use that pressure-treated 2x8 lumber to replace your picnic table boards, it’s durable and weather-resistant, which makes it great for outdoor furniture. Just make sure your table was designed for 2x8 boards (many use 2x6), or the fit and spacing may be off. Keep in mind it can be heavy and a bit rough, so sanding and sealing will improve comfort and appearance. Overall, it’s a solid long-lasting choice if the size matches your setup.

Is this product ok to use for garden beds?

        Answer This Question

I have always been told NOT to use pressure treated timber in a garden bed, as the copper and other chemicals used to “treat” the wood may contaminate your vegetation. So, yes to flower beds. And for me, it’s a no to anything I eat. Western Red Cedar

Hello Robert, yes, this product may be used for garden beds.

              Use in garage?
              ByFeb 17, 2026
              1 Answer |
              Answer This Question

Crazy1, Yes, you can use this in a garage, especially if the wood may be exposed to moisture (like contact with concrete). However, pressure-treated lumber is primarily intended for outdoor use, so for most indoor garage projects, standard untreated lumber is usually the better choice. If you do use it indoors, make sure the area is well ventilated and wear a mask when cutting.

                Actual size

                Answer This Question

Tttt, A nominal 2 in. × 8 in. × 16 ft board has smaller finished dimensions. The actual size is approximately 1.5 in. thick × 7.25 in. wide × 16 ft long. Pressure-treated lumber may measure slightly larger when wet and can shrink a bit as it dries.

The 2x8x10 SYP Prime Ground Contact boards were a vital part of my deck build. They gave me the perfect joist size and straightness needed for a level deck support system. Definitely worth the price. JU Grapevine TX

Bought the 1x8x8 to make an arm on top of our privacy fence to extend my camera out around my climbing roses bush. The roses are at the bottom of the steps going to the pool. Need the camera to help monitor the pool area. Yes that is way overboard, but that's just how I do everything.

Most modern dimensional lumber is garbage.
Bought the straightest six 2x8x10's I could find to deck an 8-foot utility trailer. None of the boards were the same length, a couple were wildly off. Dried for three weeks before installation and still VERY soft. HD's own carriage bolt torque washers spun in several places and made removal/replacement a nightmare. Will seek locally milled oak next time and pass on retail PT.

Used this product to replace decking on utility trailer. Ordered online for curbside pickup, having store employees choose the boards. Out of 10 boards, 8 were great, 1 acceptable & 1 that I could not use due to knots that would not hold up for the purpose intended. Therefore returned to store for better quality to complete the project.

There were a few knots, but I ordered online and didn’t hand pick them so that is my fault. Overall a great product!
