These sheets show 8 ft lengths. If a 10 foot length is needed can sheets be joined end to end using this same H channel. Example show side to side, but how about end to end?
Asked by: Woody
I used the h channel on the ends to make 12 foot lengths ..it a bit tricky to get in (we used a new putty knife to release any place it was binding) after we connected it to make it longer then we slide the 4 ft. (or 2 ft. in your case) sides up in between the two... they do not recommend this but i did it because i needed 12 ft. sections... and so far no problems. just need patience

I need some clear polycarbonate sheets to make a patio cover to keep the rain out. Are these recommended or appropriate for my needs? Thank you.
Asked by: Singlemom
Hi, yes - the part # for the sheets you will want to purchase is PCTW4896-6MMCL which is the 48x96 sheets, the H channel is an accessory to join sheets together - thanks!

OK I will show my ignorance, If using as a roof and the H channel is fit on top of a wood rafter to hide the joint, how is the H channel connected to the beam? Is this one piece or does the top snap off to allow fastening the lower portion to the wood? If one piece does one drill through the whole thing? Same goes with the U channel is the channel ever connected to the top and bottom wood cross member? If so how?
Asked by: Woody
o The H-Channel is just one piece and does not necessarily need to be fastened down as the sheets themselves being fastened will hold the H-Channel in place. If you prefer to fasten the H though, you can fasten through the middle flute on every cross-member (horizontal support/purlin). Please be sure to pre-drill the holes at least 5/64” larger than the fastener to allow for expansion and contraction. o The U-Channel does not need to be fastened on to the ends as it fits snugly onto the sheet. If need be, you can use 100% silicone along the seam of the U-Channel or put tape on the ends before putting the U-Channel on to make it fit a little more snug. Thank you

2 in. x 96 in. x 1/4 in. Thermoclear Polycarbonate Multi-Wall H-Channel is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 15.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's a bad design, could have been made a lot easier The uncut sheets will be easier to push into the H-channel because the ends are taper and a tad smaller, so it slides easily in and out. However, if you have to cut the sheet smaller, then you going have a heck of a time sliding it in. Now imagine doing this on top of the Pergola, it is an impossible task. I ended up assembling the entire roof on the ground and taping both ends of the joints with strong packing tape before holstering it to the pergola with 3 people. Some peopl used a metal flashing to hammer it in. You can try that. I used 4 pieces of 96x46; all cut smaller because I wanted the channel hidden by the beams. Use the circular saw with the plywood 140 teeth. I have seen H-Channel in two pieces, where you can place the first piece down, and then the top piece just clips in. That would have been a lot easier to use and install. Do yourself a favor and buy those instead. The u channel is also a pain to slide in, so I'll probably return those.
