Vibration overload
I bought this item in the spring of 2020 and have 2.5 years of usage to look back on. It has been a good tool and performed well. The compact size of the saw attracted me to the item. I have used it for a variety of projects, demolition, remodeling, cutting beams, cutting tree branches, cutting small firewood. The vibration from the saw has given me quite a few blisters and the performance is lacking compared to similar items. I just upgraded and am much happier and have a similar sized tool.

Good power, good size and good vibrations.
My first compact. Does all that I want but it also transmits lots of vibration.I have a full size DeWalt and a couple Ryobi's, including the more spendy one with the brushless motor and anti-vibe handle. I mostly use these cordless saws with pruning blades to cut and maintain trails. They are really great trail tools. I hike or mountain bike to the work site so the smaller form factor combined with full size stroke and power is what sold me on this! Does great and works hard for hours of cutting up to 6" trees/branches with a 6AH battery. Only downside is the substantial vibration and resulting numb hands. I've tried the new Diablo pruning blade which is thick and sturdy as well as thinner ones, which cut faster and vibrate less but also break and wear faster. it's a keeper and I expect years of performance but I'll be wearing dedicated gloves to get through a trail work session with this saw.

My company installs solar panels and uses nothing but Dewalt tools. We have tried other brands including Makita and Milwaukee, but none of them continue to hold up in a construction environment. We use these tools 5-6 days a week continuously, and we do not baby them. Great tools!!!
We use Impact, Drills, Bandsaws, Reciprocating saws, and more. Dewalt is a great brand and I highly recommend them.

The 20 Volt Max XR Compact Cordless Reciprocating Saw is an excellent tool. First it's built with quality to take impacts from falls and drops and comes with a long lasting brushless design. The handle design is very comfortable and provides a steady grip for tough demo situations. It has some very nice features including an LED work light, and blade positioning in 4 directions. This came as bare tool, but I can use any of my DEWALT 20 volt batteries to get the job done. I have the traditional design 20 volt DEWALT Reciprocating saw, which works very wall, but I find myself gravitating to this saw due to the comfort. I have used this for many hours of demo on my current project and it sure is a great addition to my DEWALT Tool collection! It sure helps me get the job done!

Overview use/audience: Cordless reciprocating saw that uses the DeWalt 20v Max battery platform.
My Experience: To be honest, my old 18v reciprocating saw spends a lot of time in the box. It is big, hard to control, the blades tended to bend, the blade only worked in 1 position, and the locking mechanism was hard to unlock while activating the saw. This 20v max saw solves all these issues.
The design is smaller, lighter, the locking mechanism is an on/off style lock, and has blade direction adjustment. I had an old work bench that had some 2x4 shelves I needed to cut down so I could slide a large portable generator under the bench.
This saw worked perfectly and even with a cheap blade (blade is not included, BTW), it may a very smooth cut.
Due to the smaller size it was much easier to handle however I would have liked some type of max speed adjustment like the 20v impact and drill does because for some cuts this was a little too fast.

- 4 blade positions (up, down, left, and right facing)
Cons:
- no speed control settings
Final Verdict: Definitely will be leveraging this saw more compared to the old one especially to make rough cuts.
