About This Product

Build with confidence using this 23/32 in. x 4 ft. x 8 ft. RTD CDX Southern Yellow Pine sheathing panel, designed for dependable performance in residential construction and general building applications where strength and stability are essential. Manufactured from Southern Yellow Pine, this plywood panel features a C‑grade face and D‑grade back, allowing for knots, patches, and surface variations typical of construction‑grade sheathing where appearance is not the primary concern. Bonded with exterior‑type glue, RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) CDX plywood is rated for exposure, meaning it can tolerate limited moisture during construction when properly installed and protected, making it a common choice for wall sheathing, roof decking, and subfloor applications. The consistent 23/32 in. thickness and solid core construction help provide reliable load distribution and dimensional stability across framing members. Easy to cut, fasten, and install with standard tools, this panel supports efficient workflow for new builds, remodels, and repairs. Intended as an unfinished, untreated structural panel, it should be installed in accordance with building codes and protected from prolonged moisture exposure after construction. This Southern Yellow Pine CDX sheathing offers proven jobsite performance, versatility, and everyday reliability for a wide range of residential building needs.

Is these good for bathroom sub-flooring replacement?
    ByMay 30, 2026
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Dexter, Yes, that 23/32" RTD plywood can work for a bathroom subfloor because it has adequate thickness and structural strength for flooring. However, it’s a sheathing panel, so it’s not as ideal as tongue-and-groove (T&G) subfloor-rated plywood or OSB, which helps prevent flex and squeaks. If you use it, make sure it’s rated Exposure 1 and add blocking under the seams for support. For the best long-term result, especially under tile, most pros would choose 3/4" T&G subfloor panels instead.

      Is good for walls?
      ByMay 25, 2026
      1 Answer |
      Answer This Question

Edwin, Yes, it’s good for walls as structural sheathing, meaning the layer attached to studs before siding or drywall. It’s strong, durable, and commonly used for wall sheathing in construction projects. However, it’s not ideal as a finished wall surface because it’s rough CDX-grade with knots and patches. If you need something visible inside, you’d want drywall or a smoother plywood instead.

        What is RTDplywood?
        ByApr 8, 2026
        1 Answer |
        Answer This Question

Cliff, RTD plywood is standard structural plywood that’s been kiln-dried using temperature sensors (Resistance Temperature Detectors) to better control moisture during manufacturing. This process helps produce panels that are more consistent, stable, and less prone to warping or delamination. It’s commonly used for roof, wall, and floor sheathing. While it’s high-quality, it’s not pressure-treated or waterproof, just more precisely manufactured plywood.

Can this be used for trailer decking
          ByApr 7, 2026
          1 Answer |
          Answer This Question

Name, You can use that plywood for trailer decking, but it’s not ideal for long-term durability. It isn’t pressure-treated, so it can absorb water and eventually rot when exposed to weather and road spray. It’s also a lower-grade sheathing, so it may chip, dent, or delaminate faster under heavy use. If you go this route, seal it well, but pressure-treated lumber or marine-grade plywood would last much longer.

Can you use this as flooring for installing oak flooring over?
            ByApr 2, 2026
            2 Answers |
            Answer This Question

Worthington, Yes, that type of 23/32" (essentially 3/4") RTD pine plywood can be used as a subfloor for installing oak flooring, as long as it’s properly installed and supported. Make sure it’s fastened securely to the joists (no flex or squeaks) and laid with seams staggered. However, note that this is sheathing-grade plywood, not premium underlayment, so for best results with hardwood, many installers prefer adding a higher-grade underlayment layer or using AC/BC-grade plywood.

will the iron mountain store rip this into 3 equal 16" pieces?
                ByMar 17, 2026
                1 Answer |
                Answer This Question

Timbomberg, You’ll need to reach out directly to your local Home Depot store for the most accurate answer. Cutting policies can vary by location, and availability depends on staffing and how busy they are. They can confirm whether they’ll make three cuts and how precise they can be with measurements. Calling the lumber department is usually the quickest way to find out.

                  Is this treated
                  ByMar 15, 2026
                  1 Answer |
                  Answer This Question

Eddieblaz, No, this plywood is **not pressure treated**. The “RTD” label only refers to the manufacturing process that improves bonding and moisture resistance, not chemical treatment. It’s rated for **Exposure 1 use**, meaning it can handle temporary moisture during construction but should not be left exposed long-term or used where rot resistance is required.

I needed solid shelving for storage building shelves, and these plywood sheets were perfect. I have been buying plywood and lumber from Home Depot for 20+ years and they always have what I need. We have also made two large additions to our 1912 house in the last six years and their plywood and lumber was great. Their delivery was fantastic and driver always works with me to place material where needed. Highly recommended.

                    Not amazing when delivered
It would be super helpful and appreciated if the people pulling lumber for delivery order actually cared about the pieces they were pulling. I ordered 10 of these boards and most of them were ok to decent one of them should be in a scrap/reduced bin. I get lumber for class, where my students are building weight bearing structures, and I swear lately all my lumber has been terrible quality.

Once you start cutting the plywood, it falls apart in the middle. I do not recommend buying or using this plywood. It is bad quality. I was not able to return it. DO NOT BUY!

Home Depot doesn't care about quality.
Thickness varies 1/8th" +/- I bought 23/32 which compares to 3/4", but some were only 5/8" thick.
