can i remove the valve solenoid and cap assy and re-install in my old base?
Asked by: jake
Yes. I have and no problem. However the base is really on its last legs and i would have replaced it but the fittings were corroded and i didn't feel like attacking it at the time.

Inhave 4 valves, there are 3 valves cover leaking next screws. How to fix the cover assembly leaks. Where can buy the cover assembly parts?
Asked by: mattos
Check the manufacturer website. Look at any old plumbing supply place or restore shop. Or, just purchase new ones...about $12. If exposed to constant sunlight other parts will begin to fail in short time.

Does a backflow preventer work in lieu of an anti siphon valve

Does a backflow preventer work in lieu of an anti siphon valve
Asked by: Ted
That depends on the configuration of the sprinkler zone. I have one zone which has sprinklers on the top and bottom of an inclined bank. The vertical distance between the highest and lowest sprinklers is about 8 feet. An anti siphon valve ( or backflow preventer) is fitted on the top of the bank to prevent drainage of the top pipe through the lower sprinklers. Having a backflow preventer on the valve would not help if the valve is placed at the bottom of the bank.

I want to replace a very old Lawn Genie 711 ALG valve, but I cannot find its center-to-center dimension online. Does this 54000 have the same center-to-center dimension as 711 ALG? Thanks!
Asked by: naro
Your exact replacement valve for an RJ-711 is Lawn Genie Model 54000 (also known as a 711). The Home Depot’s SKU number is: 322386

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stress Fractures I have six of these and pretty much after a period of time each and every single one developed stress fractures in the bottom where it connects to the threaded pvc pipe. I've had to replace 5 already and now the water to the sprinklers are off until i have time to get to the next one :(

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flow control is a plus I've had these in the back yard, which are 25 years old and still working, so I decided to get more and were glad when I found out they are built exactly the same. Flow control helps dial in the pressure on spray heads to prevent mist (wasted water). It also helps the valve close in a timely manner when the timer switches stations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product for excellent price These valves work as advertised, I purchased 6 and haven't had a problem at all. They do SEEM to be cheaply built when held next to more expensive brands, but looks can be deceiving. For $12 bucks, awesome value.

I PURCHASE 5 VALVES 3 OUT OF 5 HAVE ARE DEFECTIVE THERE IS A LEAK IN THE MIDDLE. UNFORTUNATELY I DISPOSED THE PACKAGING CONTAINER. I SPENT SO MANY HOURS INSTALLING THE NEW VALVES AND I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED TO FIND OUT ABOUT THE LEAK; I HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE OF THE HOT WEATHER AND MY GRASS NEEDED WATER.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 12 years and going strong I have had 5 of these valves in place for about 12 years now. After about the 9th year, each season I may need to replace a diaphragm (leaky valve) or solenoid (non-functioning valve through controller) or two, but besides that they are going strong. It is less expensive to by a new valve with a diaphragm and solenoid then to try and find/buy the parts individually.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I just purchased these valves and installed them AND ONE IS ALREADY LEKING FROM THE CENTER. Take it off and returned it I just purchased these valves and installed them AND ONE IS ALREADY LEAKING FROM THE CENTER. This is the very reason why American companies need to stop sending jobs to Mexico the quality is not there , and as a customer of this product I will not be buying them again. I had to cut it off and return it. The product used to be made in America, I have been installing these for years in my business. But this is the third one in less then six months that I had to remove and reinstall another one because they are leaking in the same spot. They are now being made in Mexico and the quality of the product has gone down hill greatly. Would not recommend this product or the Orion valve both are not worth the money. Get a clue Home Depot stop buying your products from out of the country.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from EASY INSTALL This a decent valve for the money. Don't forget to pick up 2 male 3/4" adaptors for easy connection and 2 grease insulated (moisture/water repellant) wire nuts for solenoid wiring as neither are supplied with the valve. For the price this valve is, it isn't worth the effort to rebuild if it fails just replace it, also keep a spare or two around. When they fail, they fail in the open position and the cost of that quickly surpasses the cost of a few spares... This I learned the hard way, but the valves were older than 5 years old.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from v good product if silonoid is good product was very good easy install with a few extra parts only 1 issue 1 of the solenoids not working after a few runs stopped shutting off water flow and called home depot customer service and thought issue was fixed days later got a email telling me to contact Toro. Toro says still under 90 day return service but I have a big issue just had my lawn hydro seeded cost over 400.00 to do this and in order to remove the valve must dig up the area to cut out valve will destroy about a 5ft x 5 ft area to do this and then I cant use system until repaired will kill whole lawn without water I refuse to do this and throw my work and money away when all I need is a solenoid only they should send a solenoid to me so I can swap it out about 3 minutes to fix they rather have me rip out valve and destroy my new lawn not happy if you read this call me home depot !

However this valve failed in the open position within 48 hours of purchase. The problem appeared to be caused by debris blocking the orifice that fills the Bonnet Chamber. This was easily rectified by removing the Bonnet and diaphragm and flushing the valve body and all orifices with water. Perhaps a better strainer on the inlet valve might alleviate this issue. Having said that, these valves are still great value for money and had I flushed the inlet pipe before installation, this failure might not have happened.
